So I guess I'm in the same boat... errr tank.... as many others waiting to hear back from admissions. I still have not heard a thing (absolutely nothin'!) regarding that I've been 3Q'd or placed on the NWL even though my app has been 100% complete since late December. My portal shows that I'm medically qualified, 7th semester transcripts in, etc, and the two noms I earned, so what's the deal? Is it normal to not hear anything for this long?

I'm assuming I'm now on the NWL and was wondering if this 720+ average SAT score is how those on the NWL will get selected?

Thanks

It is possible that your MOC has un-ranked nominations. If that is the case, USMA will wait until everyone has submitted their application before they begin to send out appointments. Since the application deadline is feb 29, you should hear something soon.

Thanks for the response, but my MOC has already selected their primary (who has already accepted his offer) - does this change anything in my situation? It just feels super strange that WP hasn't sent me a thing for so long, especially after reading on here about how everyone has already received letters about 3Q'd, NWL, etc.

unranked nominations

Our field rep was told by the RC that our unranked slate of candidates will be
informed(one way or the other) by 3/15th.

Same situation here, I've heard nothing. I assume it is because of the unranked slate.

Speak of the devil...

I just got home from pole vault practice to find a nice letter from the Far West admissions team stating that I've been 3Q'd and put on the NWL.

It basically said to make sure 7th sem. transcripts were in and to continue to update your file. One thing I found shocking about it was that some offers of appointment may not be granted up until a few days before the class is admitted!

One kid didn't know until R-day. He had to come up to USMA on stand-by status (I think that's what they call it).

That sounds absolutely horrible! I can't imagine waiting to hear back for that long; especially on R-Day when you think that all hope is lost! That's great for the person who got in though!

There are a few - very few - offers made in June. Last year the total number was less than 10. This happens because some people who have accepted their appointments either change their minds, get an injury that cannot be waived, or get in some trouble with the police (DWI etc).
By the end of March about 90+% of the class will be filled. However, a few slots will be opened by people turning down their appointment (they have until May 1 to accept or reject appointments).

I know that if I receive a QNS letter then I won't get too down in the dumps. West Point has been my dream school since the 6th grade and I will most definitely be reapplying next year if I don't get accepted this go-around. I've got a great Plan B with hopefully an Army ROTC scholarship to the University of Arizona Honor's College.

All I can say is that if you really want it, don't ever settle!

USMA, I'M ON MY WAY! - I admire your spirit. You have the attitude that often leads to success. We are looking for candidates with your determination. No whining or excuses as some on this forum exhibit.
I hope you get admitted - good luck!
