Am I on track for an ROTC scholarship?

Am I on track for a Reserve Officers Training Corps scholarship (preferably an NROTC scholarship) looking at my first two years of high school? Here is a list of things I have done in my freshman and sophomore years of high school:

Freshman Year

Academics

- Two Honors Courses (Chemistry Honors and Geometry Honors )
- Two Electives (Multimedia Design and Concert Band)
- Maximum Number of Credits
- Community Service Honors (50+ Community Service Hours)
- GPA - 2.957
- Chemistry Honors (usually taken by strong juniors): C+
- Geometry Honors (usually taken by strong freshmen or sophomores): C-
- World Civilizations: A-
- English I: B
- Spanish I: B-
- Multimedia Design: A
- Concert Band: A+ (counted as half of a course)

School Sports

- None

Extracurricular

- Elected Ninth Grade Class Council Officer
- Volunteer at the Children's Section of a local library

I think you should just re-read the bottom half of post #26 of this thread, since your update with sophomore 1st semester grades doesn't seem to have changed your competitive position:

Your gpa seems to be on the low end for both SA and ROTC. If I was reviewing your application I would say this candidate has a difficult time juggling EC and academics- way too much " fluff" in EC and low grades. You need to pick a few EC and excel in them and get that GPA up to well above a 3.5. A few B's are ok but you should have mostly A's!
It is not too late but think you need to change direction and focus on those grades.

Agreed with everything posted here.

Right now you seem to be on the wrong track, you need to consolidate and focus from this point on.

Count me in with crair and Jcleppe. The cgpa is low. Out of every ROTC branch, NROTC is probably the most competitive.

The only way I can see this being offset is if you said you go to the number 1 Magnet school in your state; meaning A's are not handed out like candy, and that you had to test to get into that HS.

3.0 even with a strong SAT, i.e. 1390, will beg the question to look at why the gpa is so low because academically you have the foundation.

Kids get confused and think the SA's and ROTC's want someone with 50 activities compared to someone with 5. It is not true at all. They want long term dedication and leadership while maintaining high gpas in the most rigorous courses available.
