BLUE LAGOON! :thumb:

Have him buy you wool items: sweaters, jackets, etc., while he's there!! It's an amazing place and the wool is the finest in the world!!

Blue Lagoon was pretty good! We made a port call in Iceland this summer on Eagle. If your DS is single he'll appreciate Icelandic women.

Iceland is an amazingly beautiful place. He will come back with some beautiful photos; hope they make it out to Gulfoss and the Geyser. There is a great bus system and no real need for a car, pubic geothermal pools, great hiking, a glacier to climb, Viking horses to ride and Blue Lagoon is fun to visit. Iceland is very expensive but the people are very kind and welcoming.

Iceland sounds amazing. Nothing as exciting out here, but youngster requested a family vacation including the girlfriends, since this will be the last official spring break before oldest AROTC son graduates in May. So my husband and I loaded up the suburban with a 22 yr old and 20 year old, plus the girls, kayak, 4 bikes, volleyball, badmitton, frisbee, footballs, food for a week, 6 laptops, and a case of wine (for me). Fortunately the roadtrip was only two hours to Galveston Texas....plus the stop at Target and the stop at Academy for fishing licenses....

They are all fishing right now...........all day........

Mids did Costa Rica on the Pacific coast. House, pool and easy walk to downtown. Iceland has always been a place I would like to visit.

I went to Cancun for Spring Break during my senior year at VMI.

I went to the beach.

That's all I'll admit to in a public forum. :shake:

DS went to Ft. Benning to compete in the US Army Small Arms National Championships. Came home very motivated and "certain" he wants to branch Infantry.

As an MSI with very little experience with the real military, he was very excited to go. He had never been to Benning before, and really enjoyed the Infantry Museum and of course shooting in the National Championships. He gets his real vacation in July with his CULP trip to the South Pacific.

Any introduction to the Military Life is a good one. Just remember that they put the best face forward.:thumb:

Not really sure what AF6872 meant by best face forward.

Your son sounded like he had a great spring break. Better to be at Benning early Spring then late summer. How did the Shooting Competition go. My son went to Benning the summer after sophomore year for Airborne School, he spent a day at the Infantry Museum, also said it was great. I hope your son has a great experience in the South Pacific with CULP, mine will be in Bosnia, a great opportunity for these cadets.

Thanks JCleppe - the competition went well! My DS finished in the top 10 among cadets and top 50 overall, which he was pleased with considering it was the first time he'd fired an M16. They got excellent instruction from the USA Army Marksmanship Unit prior to the matches.
It was the first year his school sent a team, but they enjoyed it so much they intend to keep going back. They plan it to be a tune-up for Best Ranger in April.

Bosnia sounds like it will be interesting. Mine is still waiting to find out what sort of mission his CULP trip is, as it's an amended assignment from his original trip to Malaysia. This is such a great opportunity, regardless of mission or location. I wish they'd had something similar when I went through ROTC.

"Best Face Forward" Best you can while you are there in any Basic training. TBS seems a brutal six months. Anyone graduating is one tough Marine.

DD and the rest of Women's Glee Club are on their way back from a concert you in Cal and Hawaii. Lots of HS recruiting visits, seven concerts, plus rehearsals, all make for a busy week. Still had time for some kayaking, and that's all she'll admit in a public forum

The audience for their performance at the Arizona Memorial included a Pearl Harbor attack survivor. The Mids met him, and he told his story of that day. It was another amazing experience for those Mids.
