What does this letter mean??

Today I received a letter from Academy Admissions acknowledging my request for a Vice Presidential Nomination. Does this mean that my Senatorial Nomination slot has already been filled, or does it simply mean that I will be competing for both the Senatorial and Vice President nominations when my packet is reviewed by the admissions board?

Not sure...DS got the same letter...obviously a case where a TWE is "the" TWE

My DS received the same exact letter and we were wondering the same thing. We are in FL District 2 and we know for a fact that one of the 10 Nominees received a TWE rejection letter from the USNA today.

Ditto here

Almost cruel watching my son open THAT TWE only to realize that it wasn't "THE" dreaded TWE.

Hey I hope I can clear this up for everyone!

I too got the same letter and what I've hear before, they send that letter to everyone that applies for a Vice-Presidential Nomination just to let the applicant know that their application for a VP nomination was received. Its almost like the academy confirming on file that you applied for one.

Its up to the academies themselves now to determine who should get the VP nomination (usually one or two kids every year will get it).

I've already been rejected by the Naval Academy (didn't get a nomination and they wouldn't pursue a medical waiver because of that).

Nevertheless, I hope those still waiting to hear back get the great news of getting an appointment. For those that didn't or won't, don't let it get to you, there's other paths of becoming a military officer and you should be proud you made it this far. Things tend to work for the better in life, sometimes it just takes a little longer

Thank you so much for taking the time to help clear that up

and good luck to you.

Thank you all very much, I guess at this point anything that isn't a rejection can't be a bad thing

Glad someone went ahead and asked this question.

I was almost certain that it was just confirmation that I applied to the VP, but I was slightly worried that it may be an indication that my Presidential/Congressional were not going to go through.

Got to say though. My heart rate noticeably elevated when I saw a TWE in the mailbox. Thankfully not THE TWE.

yea I was thinking the same thing but I just wanted to see if others were in the same situation.

Exactly my thoughts, I almost needed a change of pants when I saw that thing lying on the table when I walked 10 minutes ago haha.

Blueangel5- didn't you previously post that you have already received a BFE? Confused as to why you would be worried and why you would have received this TWE?

DS received BFE in Decemeber, but still received this letter re VP nom today. It appears everyone who applied for VP is receiving this letter. It sure scrared me and DS when we received this letter even if he had received BFE.

What a waste of postage...

One or two VP appointments this year - hundreds of letters going out on this subject. If this happened in my private company, there would be HE** to pay. No wonder the government is going broke.

I have received my BFE for USAFA, but I am still (extremely) anxiously awaiting news (hopefully good) from USNA, the worry is because it is getting to be crunch time and I strongly desire to go to USNA.

I know how you feel. My state coordinator for West Point told me they have one slot in my state open and 2 candidates they're looking at to fill it, but they found out from my Congressman that I'm applying to USNA and said they won't give me an appointment if they aren't sure I will take it. I called Admissions at USNA today and explained their ultimatum since USNA is my #1, but my rep really couldn't tell me much other than I'm 3 Q'ed and competitive, but not a shoe-in (if there is such a thing at USNA) and I might not hear back until April 15.

I can't believe a Service Academy would pull that tactic. That shocks me -- no SA should restrict an offer of appointment because a candidate is waiting to hear back from another SA. It sounds like they might be penalizing you because you applied to another SA?

Wow, that is quite a situation. One thing is for sure, this will be the longest month and three days of our lives!

I agree. I briefly considered applying to all of the SA's; but decided against it because I only really wanted to go to USNA, and I didn't want any MOC to decide for me that I'm flexible with respect to which one I would attend.

Gotcha blueangel5- I wish you the best playing the waiting game for usna. Like you my DS first choice is usna but also applied to usafa which is a very close second... Waiting for both is killing him! Thankful NROTC and afrotc scholorships are in place for plan b.
