I received a Type 7 scholarship from the 2nd AFJROTC board and accepted the offer, but I haven't received any other paperwork from the scholarship committee or Maxwell. Are there any other papers or packages that I should be expecting? Thanks.

Since I didn't know the real answer, DS not having won a scholarship, I didn't jump right in on this one. But, since its been a while, if they gave you a contact phone number in the letter I would dial it now for a definitive answer. Otherwise, try contacting the unit at the school(s) you plan to attend and ask them, or cadet command.

If I recall correctly no there will be no more paperwork you will receive. You will have new paperwork as soon as you report to ROTC.
Make sure you bring the following:
1. Original Birth Certificate
2. Non-laminated Social Security Card
3. Voided check or deposit slip
4. FedEX prepaid envelope
Number 4 is not required, JMPO advice. Once you contract FedEx the Birth Certificate back home to the folks, it is safer with them than in a dorm room where it can get lost very easily.
I would also take with you a copy of every correspondence you have had including the scholarship award and your medical records. Leave the originals at home with the folks.
The reason why is believe it or not things get lost in the giant AFROTC HQ world or your school may request the AF scholarship as proof. Scholarships usually do not get paid until @Oct. 1. For many schools they will start charging a late fee at that point and proving you have the scholarship will make sure they won't plus, they won't lock your account. This happened to our DS his freshman yr. Registration for spring was Oct 6th, and his account was locked because the scholarship had yet to be posted to the bursar.
Also remember with the book allowance you pay out of pocket and they reimburse you later on.
Monthly stipend is paid in arrears and per diem. If you contract on the 10th of Sept, you will not get a check until Oct. 1st and it will be for 20 days, not 30 days so don't start checking your bank account for 125 bucks on Sept 15th.

Same boat, we haven't seen anything else either - the last thing we did was send Maxwell his admissions letter from Auburn and that was it...

Maybe things have changed, but DS did not have any security clearance paperwork until C300 when he got his AFSC.
AFA cadets do hand in a short security clearance form, but I would not consider it a security clearance, I would call it a background check. These cadets live on a military installation. AFROTC cadets do not.

how much time do you have to accept/decline scholarship?
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere on this site (I looked but couldn't find!) -- with AFROTC scholarships, what is the timeframe given (i.e. 10 days, two weeks from the date of the award letter) to accept/decline?

I believe it was 30 days from the date offered. By the time you actually receive the offer some of that 30 days will be used up. I think my son ended up with about 3-1/2 weeks to respond.
New this year! At USAFA they now require the full security clearance. You have to show on I-Day with this 120+ document. We are almost done filling it out

Wow Kdc 120 pages, that is insane!
DS has a rated slot (class of 12) with a TS in hand and it was 53 pages long. He did it last summer, and yes, the lovely man in a dark suit knocked on our door and the people he had for referrals to interview. He was in our home for about 60-90 minutes. I can't even fathom 120 pages.
JMPO, but I think that is a fraud, waste and abuse issue because a TS costs ten thousand+; is only valid for 5 yrs, and traditionally for AFA 20% will not graduate from the AFA, and not every officer needs a TS. That also means even for the 80% that graduate, 100% go rated, they will have to repeat the process again at UPT because it is only valid for 5 yrs. 4 yrs at the AFA, have it done prior, and casual, places them at UPT and re-certification.
That is a lot of money they are spending knowing that a % will never need it. A lot of money knowing that they will need to repeat it again when they are in the thick of it (UPT).
OBTW since we have diverted the thread to clearances. They will not accept any missing time. In other words, if your folks moved when you were 2 and you currently live there now, they still want the address and dates of the homes you lived in prior. You will be asked for referrals, and for military children there is a caveat. I can't and won't swear by it, but I recall the question portion is 3 people for every place you have lived, however, they know for military kids that could mean alot! DS moved 4 times in 7 yrs. That would have been 12 references. The caveat if I recall correctly for military kids is 3 or 4 references. NO FAMILY.
