Hello all,

Just a quick question: Has anyone heard when they might know the results from the POC board? For example, I was told by my Det that it's likely we'll find out this week. Anyone heard the same or anything different?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Our det said it would likely be the 23rd. It sounds like it's just hard to say at this point, and, since it seems each CC uses their own discretion in when and how to notify cadets, I'd say that Pima's advice is the most accurate.

One thing's universal though, and that's when we'll have all been placed. Sounds like that will be finalized this week, so now it's just up to our dets to receive the results and determine how to advise us.

I have heard that it will be on March 23rd as well. Going to be the longest week of my life. Good luck to all and have faith! Have a happy birthday Eagle 1!!!

My daughter's Detachment Commander told them that they will be notified about whether they were selected this coming Wed evening (March 21st).

Good luck to all those that are anxiously waiting. :thumb:

I heard that we'll find out on the 23, day before my birthday lol.

Yup, just got notification from my detachment that they expect to receive the results this Wednesday, the 21st. Good luck to all of you, hope to see you at Maxwell!

If its Wednesday I foresee a great deal of tension during LLAB. Good luck to us all.

If the release date is Wed., that typically means the CC's have the results in hand by the end of the day today.

I know for our DS when he went through it, the CC called all of the cadets the night prior and told them a specific time to report. He actually had 2 times. The reason why was the one time to report was for all of the cadets that got SFT. The other time was for those that did not get it. The CC briefed them as a group, not one on one, but he had a large group.

Now before you all jump thinking they know today, it comes down to that release date. It may very well mean that the results are released to the CC on Wed. for a Thursday release to the cadets.

Don't assume that the CC will do what DS's did, but for some that may very well happen.

I feel for our DS's det., because the fact is they are on spring break this week, and I would assume they won't find out until next week the results. For them that has to hurt knowing everyone else has an answer and they don't.

Good luck to all!

Got some promising news from our det/CC today: Looks like there were only ~2600 nominated, and a total of over 2400 slots given! We don't know the specifics yet, but this is very good news for all of us waiting, as he let us know the selection rate at those numbers is almost 93%!

-----

Just a quick edit, although he got the statistics, he made it clear he hadn't gotten the actual names quite yet, so don't go thinking your cadre knows already! He let us know they're expecting it by midday tomorrow..

Good luck!

Hope it is true, because that is a WOW!

To go from 55% to 93% in one yr is amazing. I don't think anyone saw that coming. 65% yes, @95% no.

But that was the percentage of those nominated. You know the process way better than me. Could a cadet be eligible but not nominated? Might that be a fairly large number. Not to rain on the parade or anything. Just trying to get a handle.

I believe that in order to be selected, cadets must first be nominated. Not sure about that, so don't quote me anywhere, that's just the impression I've gotten from our cadre.

In any case, it's still very good news, even if that percentage were to be slightly lower for whatever reason!

In the dark ages :shake: the AD AF had a system where the command racked and stacked before submitting to a promotion/PME board, but I thought they did a way with that system yrs ago.

It will be interesting to see if they do "nom" now, compared to you are a 200 and will meet the board with my rec being part of the WCS for selection.

If I am correct, and NROTC parents lurking here, can give a definitive answer that is similar to their Programmer process.

It seems to me that the branches are starting to blend more, taking what works for another branch and implementing in their branch.

Curiosity, did your det nom 100%? How are they handling this issue if they didn't nom 100%, because the rule has been no SFT = no POC, and you can be either dis-enrolled or become a 500.

How are they working that if they only nom'd 50% regarding who is dis-enrolled or 500?

If they nom'd only 75%, did cadets drop AFROTC C200 like flies for spring semester?

I don't get from a motivation standpoint, why any cadet would stay if they know that SFT is not in their future.

500's in the AD world from a promotion purpose would be considered APZ, and odds are long shot for APZ.

I know for a fact that 100% didn't get nominated. I believe they said that apart from the ~35 that were nominated, there were 2 that couldn't compete because of a new condition requiring a completed DoDMERB for the board, and I believe a couple others that either decided not to do it, or couldn't because of paperwork, or otherwise. So for us, it was probably around 85-90% nominated. I'm not sure about what happens with the rest, but my guess is it will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and some will decide to compete next year as a 500.

Also, I seem to remember quite a few dropping before PSP even came around, just because of their perceived chances. I definitely agree with you, that's why it's so important for us to have a plan B, and be ready to go with it if things change.

So basically, if their paperwork was in order and wanted to "commit" they got the nom. In other words cadets didn't battle it out, and the det submitted all eligible cadets.

Just from LY posts, and other forums, the common POV was that AFROTC HQ determined if they will allow the cadet to become a 500, and the CC had a voice regarding support in that decision. HQ had final word. Won't swear by it, but I believe they had their own "board" to determine the outcome of dis-enrollment and 500.

It does make sense regarding cadets dropping out. At the end of every semester there is always the "rack and stack" review. If a cadet is told you are my last choice, non-scholarship cadets (majority of all AFROTC cadets) will not return for spring if their heart is not there.

If this is the trend, the acceptance rate will rise because of the fact that the pool is diminished.

Telling any cadet, that LY it was a 55% acceptance rate nationally, and you are my bottom 1/3rd, with no scholarship, will make an impact. Honestly, if they told you that, no scholarship, unless all you want in life is to be an AF officer, you most likely would quit, and your name would never be thrown in the pot. Why get up at 5 am in freezing weather to do PT? Why carry one more class that has no impact on your degree?

It is a way to determine who is ALL IN, and those who think they WANT IN.
