Im a freshmen in high school and I aspire to attend USNA. I'm wondering what classes will look good. I'm currently in all honors and will be taking AP classes in the future. I'm also in advanced math, algebra 2 and percale next year as well as Spanish 3 right now. What classes should i choose to take in the future? What elective should I take. One is spanish and I'm signed up to go to marketing next year so I can get into Future Bussiness Leaders of America but I'm not sure this will help me get in USNA. Any advice?

Your math looks great. Keep getting ahead in that. Take through AP Calculus BC if you can. If you can validate two semesters of Calc AND do well in Calc 3 and Diff eqs you'll be in a freakin great place when it comes to your schedule at the academy. Also, I wish I had taken AP Chem instead of AP Physics. If you can take AP Chem and AP calculus based physics (mechanical and electricity & magnetism) go for it, but youd probably have to choose and then I'd go with chemistry. getting plebe chem out of the way can really open up your schedule. as far as electives, take what you like. languages are good but do what you want to be doing in those classes. go strong with the core and have fun with the electives. that being said, make sure if you are taking a lot of honors and APs you are keeping your grades up. a C in ap chem probably wont do you much good...

good luck. i hope that helped.

You are in a great position at this time: you have identified what you want to do after you graduate from high school... trust me, most of your classmates barely have a clue or an interest in something that is about three years in the future - so sincere Congratulations! Now, prepare yourself to take full advantage of the fact that you have made an early decision. Start studying to take the SAT and ACT exams starting this calendar year. Meet with your guidance counselor and lay out your course selections for the remaining years in high school so that you will be positioned to take the courses you should be taking. Take AP courses for chemistry, calculus, physics, and grammar/composition at a minimum, and ensure that you get geometry and trigonometry squeezed in as well. Try to get to USNA at least a couple of times, possibly via the STEM program and NASS... you need to know what you are getting into and thse are great opportunities to do just that. Be careful in selecting your ECA's that you don't go the shotgun route, but get into programs that interest you and offer you leadership opportunities. You are taking on a rigorous, demanding challenge, but it is eminently worth your efforts. Best wishes!
