I have already been accepted, but a few months ago I received a speeding ticket that was changed to a parking ticket (double the fine) so that it would not go on my record. Do I need to let West Point know of this even though there is nothing on my record?

I'm sure one of the truly knowledgable regulars / USMA insiders on here will respond, but my take is: Call admissions and ask them. Better safe than sorry because if it matters then you should be the one to tell them. If you don't tell them, they may likely find out anyway and then you will wish you had. But I think someone at Admissions can tell you either way whether you even need to report it or not. My uninformed wild guess: They won't care about this.

I'm sure someone here knows better than I, but a parking ticket? Really? I wouldn't worry about it unless asked. If you're filling out some paperwork list it if needed. But I doubt you need to go out of your way to inform them.
 
My Yearling son received a speeding ticket between the time he accepted his appointment and R-Day. Yes, a minor infraction as he was only slightly above the posted speed limit.

His MALO told him to report the information to his region admissions officer, and he did.

There is no reason to hold the information back, unless you are told by admissions not to submit the info.

Son's regional commander asked for a copy of the ticket, as well as the outcome of traffic court.
 
The standards you will be held to at West Point require you to report this exactly as it happened, a speeding ticket that turned into a parking ticket. This is a good example of the offense not being nearly as serious as the attempt to conceal it. During your years at West Point your committment to the Cadet Honor Code will be tested many times, you may as well do the right thing now.
 
Fine limit?

Son had the same issue two years ago (option to have ticket forgiven), was told to report all surrounding circumstances, and did so, with no repercussions.

We were told then that, if the fine was above $250, the issue would go before a "character committee" of the admissions office. Can't verify whether that is still true, and don't know who is on the committee.
 
Do you know if the $250 refers to the original speeding ticket or the new parking ticket? Because in my case, my speeding ticket was for $125 which then doubled to the $250 parking ticket

The fine is $250. Whatever they charge you is what counts, not what it started as.
