Son just sent pics of his butter-bars. So proud, but life is moving way too fast.

I bet DS sees it differently.

You did a great job raising him into the fine young man he has become. Best wishes to your family and I hope your eyes don't get too "sweaty" on Graduation Day.

Mom raised him. I just paid for everything. Naaaa; looking back at his and his sister's accomplishments, I couldn't be prouder or have a higher level of accomplishment. Growing up, we tend to really only think about ourselves, what we accomplish, what we achieve, etc... But once a person becomes a parent and their child graduates high school/college and start making their own accomplishments and achievements, is when we realize that our children are our TRUE LEGACY. They are what we become proud of as our accomplishment and achievement. Yes, we may have had other significant accomplishments and achievements, but how our children turn out is what matters most. Thanks for the compliments. Mike....

P.S. And yes, my son feels that he's spent his whole life at the academy. He definitely doesn't think the last 4 years flew by.

Congratulations Christcorp, I'm so very happy for you and can tell you are overflowing with pride.

I love what you say here and know that it is true. I'm way more proud of what my kids have done and are doing, that anything I've ever done. I'm looking forward to seeing my son (first one out of the nest) grow in the man he is meant to be.

CC's 3000th post! Haha

Conratulations to Christcorp, spouse and son!

Congratulations to the entire family!
Clearly you have reared remarkable children, and it is the single most important legacy that we have... I can tell by the advice that you have so kindly shared with all of us on this forum that your parenting skills were amazing. I still think that you should write a book. I think your advice would be invaluable to students and their families that are considering a military academy. I know that you have helped me more than anyone on this forum and I am so very grateful for all of your advice, counsel, help and encouragement. May your son and his future be truly blessed. May you and your wife be blessed and your daughter also.
I am sure that the graduation will be amazing. I wish that my son would one day have an opportunity to meet your son.
Thank you so very, very much.
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone in your family.

Christcorp, Congratulations to your son, you and your entire family. You are rightfully very proud.
I appreciate you sharing this along with all of the other wisdom you choose to share.

And you still have to come to Thudgate! :hammer:

I didn't realize I hit the 3000 post mark. Hee Hee. And yes, I will still be at thudgate. Matter of fact, I just renewed my Season Tickets to Falcon Football. I will still be down there most weekends in the fall. And opening game (Parent's weekend) is always a blast. Except instead of staying in the springs with my son for parent's weekend, the wife and I will spend Sunday/Monday at Blackhawk. (Love those casinos). :thumb:

Thank you all for the many kind words. I know it's hard for some to stay on the forums; especially after their child graduates from the academy. Unfortunately, you all STILL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ME. LOL!!! If I didn't care so much about the air force, I probably wouldn't be an ALO like Steve (Flieger). I hope many others like Fencermama and others who's kids are graduating, will still hang out here. There's a lot of people that can benefit from all of y'all's experiences.

Anyway; thanks again for the compliments. Mike.....

I've seen that Thudgate has been mentioned quite a few times before... what is it?

It is an AMAZING opportunity to "join the AF family, even if just for one day" at Falcon Stadium during football season!!!

Sponsored/started (?) by, it turns out, my high school classmate Mike in honor of his father, General George Simler and all the "thud drivers" from Viet Nam. But while it's a "memory" thing for Mike and MANY others, it's a SUPERB opportunity to meet folks: cadets, AF members, past and present, and to have a roaring good time together!!!

And if you are there...you get to meet CC... aka: Mike. A super guy!!! :thumb: Heck, for the last couple of years he's always bought be a big glass of Weed!!!:eek::thumb:

And others from the forums show up too!!!

If you are at a USAFA home football game...you have ZERO excuse for missing this!!

I can't believe my boys will be joining CC's on May 23rd, graduating!

For me, too, Mike and all, it does seem like just yesterday, i was asking "What's a C4c?' "You mean they can't come home for the weekend?"

What fantastic opportunities my sons have had! Other than another US Service Academy, I don't think there is anyplace on this good earth which would have afforded them the chance

To Fly!
To Soar!
To Travel!
To Meet the Greatest Young People EVER!

I am grateful to each of you here, helping us all along the way, laughing, crying, questioning, discussing. You parents and older cadets were just terrific too!
