When can we expect these to go out? Has anyone else received either yet?

Typically the Falcon and Prep offers go out a few weeks after the last mailing of BFEs and TWEs. This year, understandably, has been different.

When is I-Day for USAFA Prep? I know its sometime in July, but not sure when...
I have no clue. I know very little of how any of it works, and yet I've probably read every letter on every website about the academy on the first 10 pages of search results. I've probably watched every video on youtube twice too.

From my admissions counselor

Hi Terry,

We are currently filling our prep school class and will notify you if you are
selected. We do not send out non-select letters for the Prep school, however.

If you are offered a Prep slot, you will be notified within the next couple of
weeks.

Thanks,

USAFA Prep School Appointment offers are going out now.

According to my admissions counselor if we get a prep school appointment, we'll know at latest, in "a couple weeks". Still too much waiting.

Are you able to comment on whether LEAD appointments to AFA and PREP are going out now as well?

LEAD "appointments" are about the most secretive there are!

The folks at USAFA/RRS work with "...others" on those; not sure who, I've really never gotten a good "read" on them. It's my opinion that they are really serious about really going over a young airman's package, make sure everything is "just so" and then they make the offers.

That's my long-winded "flieger" way of saying, no, I don't have any knowledge re: LEAD offers, yet.

Well I know to be selected for the LEAD Diversity Visit TDY our packages had to go in front of a board of upper enlisted and officers. Perhaps the appointments have the same process

Just wondering... what are the average ACT/SAT/GPA of people appointed to the prep school?

I might rain on a few parades; if so, I'm sorry!

Great question. However, I have never seen those numbers published.

And, in my opinion, you won't.

Why?

Because of the incredibly diverse selection of students selected for the USAFA Prep School. They're NOT the "next 200 or so on the list that didn't get offered appointments to USAFA." You all have seen the numbers...athletes, airmen, some of the "not quite good enough" and so on...it's a HUGELY diverse mix!

There are some, in the past, that I've seen with ACT's in the low 20's, SAT's in the low 500's...but the rest of their package was simply amazing! The USAFA decided they needed just a touch of academic preparation. Or they came from a diverse situation (anyone remember my story of the kid on the farm running the farm, driving forever to school, and helping raise all his siblings? He couldn't do sports, etc...because of his home situation?)

I will say this and I know it's hard to understand or believe...but the odds of a student being selected for prep school that is a HIGH ACHIEVER in all areas? VERY low...simply because the prep school really won't help them; it's not geared to their level. It's a "prep" school.

Personal opinion...if you have a superior package, SATs in the upper 600's/low 700's or ACTS in the 30's, all across the board, you probably won't hear from the prep school as you are above their level.

NOT what folks want to hear, I realize.

Good package just a 3.06 GPA. Hmm...guess I'll have to wait and see.
