Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hi, sorry, was travelling today and couldn't get a reply in. Yes, we are in the great state of Michigan. From what I can tell (but I haven't read each post in the last couple days) nobody from MI that frequents this site has gotten a BFE, phone call, portal change, etc. So not sure what that means for the candidates from MI. Our mail has been held at the PO, so Monday we'll get a bundle, but I we aren't thinking it will contain much based on what we've read here. Happy Easter!

And don't let my username confuse. I now live in CA.

Which ERAU campus? My DH & I went to the Prescott, AZ campus from 1997-99 LOVED living there. It's also DS's second college pick.

We visited the Daytona Beach campus. I was concerned seeing a few pictures online that it looked too much like an office complex but once being there it really did feel like a campus--my son was really pumped up at the end of the visit. We visited on a Thursday, classes were in session, kids were skateboarding to class, sitting in the sun, etc had a great tour guide, he loved their amazing facilities and the academic opportunities, just can't say enough about how much he liked it all. He did end up choosing the AFA, though, and has not looked back. He's a pretty adaptable kid, and I think he would have enjoyed ERAU immensely had he gone that route.

WHOA Nellie

We are in the waiting game again after DS accepted Offer of Appointment. After answering some questions as we went through the acceptance process we received in the mail today that the Appointment is now Conditional until we get some paperwork back to DoDMERB.

Turns out DS had a surgical procedure back in December and we must provide copies of all medical records related to the surgical procedure for re-evaluation by DoDMERB. Continued execution of plan B was more for in case of injury during BCT, but now we are going through medical qualification again. Should not be a problem, but you never know.

To those still waiting do not despair yet, for you do not know how many other Appointees are currently in our situation.

Good luck to all and may you have a Blessed Easter.

One of my close friends was rejected today. I thought his stats were far superior to mine, and I'm now quite nervous.

Knittle, did he receive a TWE in the mail and is he in WA? We are just trying to figure out which day(s) we don't want to stalk the mailbox. Good luck to you.

He received a TWE, and lives in Colorado. The letter was post marked for Friday.

Okay. I saw that post yesterday--I just didn't know if it was someone different. This wait is so stressful...what's a few more days

correct me if i wrong but wouldn't it be harder to get in if you lived in Colorado since there are probably way more applicants from that state for the Air Force Academy?

I dont know about you guys, but I am a little frustrated that it's past the first week of april, and final notifications still have not been made...

Guess I will just keep wishing and waiting :)

happy easter!

Non-Select Letters

Just to update everyone still waiting... USAFA Admissions sent "non-select" letters on Friday. Over 1200 were sent. Some candidates got them Saturday (those that where close by)... the rest will know over the next 1 to 3 days.

Also, the "QNV" is a thing of the past. The letters sent Friday are simply "non-select".

This will be a hard time for those receiving the letters. Please know that this was difficult for USAFA too. The mandated size of the incoming class is forcing USAFA to pass on some truly fine candidates this year, probably more so than any year in USAFA's history.

God speed, everyone.

That's what my son was told about living in MD and trying to get into the Naval Academy but I don't know if there is a source that proves it statistically or if its just an assumption.

Thank you for updating everyone, Insider. At least now we know what to except.

Will people eligible for the prep school receive this as well as an appointment or solely a P school appointment? Thanks for the info!

I'm glad Insider is here and is able to post things that we ALO's are told we can't...while it's not always the news folks want to hear...it helps! :thumb:

Thanks for the information! Hoping I don't receive the NSL today. (Three days is generally how long it takes for smail from Colorado to reach Kansas.)

The only part of the process that is harder/more competitive should be securing a nomination. I can imagine a LOT of people who live close to an academy will try to get a nomination for that local academy. After that point, it's about the same as everyone else.
