I was just wondering if any one could give me a few ideas on how to show I'm a leader?

If it helps I am a tenth grader who has 2 years of varsity baseball, has good grades, decent SAT and ACT scores and take all honors and ap classes.
 
Learn to be a good follower and team player first. Listen, respect others, commit to the team goal.

Watch those who lead, figure out what they do that makes you feel valued, motivated and willing to work hard for the team goal - also observe those who lead who make you feel beaten down, undervalued and uninspired, and DON'T emulate them!

Ok, that's philosophical stuff, I think you are asking for what kinds of things you can do to demonstrate those qualities for admissions purposes. I suggest reading the posts where appointees have posted their stats and activities - there will be a wide range there. There are also some threads over the last few years that address your question.

In general, I think it's better to go for quality over quantity, don't spread yourself too thin, but choose some good substantive activities where you take an elected role or project oversight role that demonstrates your ability to organize people, resources and plans to meet a goal.
 
Choose to join school, and non-school clubs in which you have an interest, then seek to become a recognized leader. Junior ROTC, Boy Scouts, etc. My DS is particularly interested in Robotics and started a Robotics Club (he is the president) through the school where they compete on a state level with their robots. He loves the outdoors so he earned Eagle Scout with two palms, and is a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He also likes football and was Captain of the football team for a time (our HS rotates leadership every month so that those that display leadership get a chance to hold the position). GOOD LUCK!
 
beyond what's mentioned above activity wise for the resume, figure out exactly what kind of leader you are. Throughout the many interviews you will undoubtedly do for this whole process, you can then work those in and use specific examples and scenarios from the activities you're involved in to demonstrate your understanding of being a leader. Sometimes i was asked what my leadership style is out rightly, and other times it was a "situation in which i displayed good leadership." if you're like me and can't really come up with the best things on the fly, its good to be thinking about such things in the back of your mind for the next couple months. its not cheating to take notes on yourself :smile:
 
Keep in mind that you do NOT have to be the designated team captain, or class president to be a leader in the organization. Also, if you do become a leader, don't rest on those laurels - be a leader in every sense of the word. Also, since you expect to pursue an appointment and expect to be interviewed, document your achievements so that you will have something tangible to discuss during your interview(s). I have been very impressed by those candidates who had something to show their accomplishments. Best wishes to you going forward.
