Hints in "Candidates offered Admission"

Got admitted to USMA off NWL last week. Going about filling out the necessary forms and background check and deposit, etc.

I see that not only in the accepted packet but in the "instructions to Candidates offered Admission," that the Director of admissions keeps a making a point of it to say "When you arrive and your final medical clearance is confirmed" you will join the class of 2016. I've seen it twice. I understand we get immunization records done before, but do they do a full-body medical exam on R-day? What medical stuff do they do? Does someone know if it will be as thorough as the DODmerB physical?

I ask because I think it would be tough to do 1050 complete physicals in one day.

Now that I think about this, I might be able to provide some insight. My dad is a dentist in the Navy and he's going to Annapolis for two weeks to do dental exams on the new mids during Indoc for them. So maybe USMA does its exams over a period of a few weeks.

Even at a government rate, geez they'll be working their tail off. Unless the doctors just like look over your forms and immunizations.

Sterilize, examine. (Repeat x 100)
 
In boot camp, we'd be filed with the appropriate shots that we need, there would be 2 nurses on each side of you pumping injections in your arms for everything you need, then to the next person within seconds.

Hahahahah. That would suck to get a bunch of shots on R-day.

How about during the rest of your time at USMA? Is there like a remedial medical exam each year you come back from summer? (i understand u guys might not know)
 
If you get all the shots you are instructed to get, then you will not get any extra on R-Day. :thumb:

You can't get what you're instructed to get if it's not available.

My son sent in his medical paperwork with one needed shot missing. Our doctor's office doesn't have it. They called both of their medical suppliers, and the suppliers don't have it. We called the county health clinic and they don't have it. (It's the Hepatitis A shot.)

My son called the head nurse at the health clinic at West Point and asked what to do. He was told to include a note with his paperwork explaining why he doesn't have that shot and to keep trying to get it before he shows up, otherwise they'll give it to him on R-Day.
 
Just talked to my son in the Class of 2015. He said that all of your records (medical, dental etc) are checked on R-Day. If all your paperwork is proper your medical check is complete and you quickly move to the next station. If not, it is a case by case basis depending on what is missing. On R-Day, I had my son take a copy of all of his required WP medical, vision, and dental paperwork. WP should have a copy of all of this paperwork but the system is not 100% effective.
In short - this is a medical record check and not an exam by a Doctor.

It sounds like it is to let you know that if your medical status changes (injury, illness, etc) you could still have your slot pulled.
 
a friend of my daughter's has heard nothing yet, he was told a few weeks ago that he was #21 on the NWL, that is why I ask.
