Will USMA appoint two kids from the same high school one year after the next? I just found out a recruited athlete from my school just was appointed to the class of 2016. Will this lower my chances for the class of 2017 since geographic diversity is important?

I doubt it. There's one school in my city that has someone go to USMA almost every year. Admissions is more concerned about the quality of the candidate, so just make sure you have the best resume possible, and it shouldn't be a problem.
Not likely, it might actually help. High schools are different, one way to tell a difference is their track record of sending kids to West Point. So if a high school has kids getting appointed to West Point regularly, higher your standing is in respect to your GPA/class rank evaluation relative to other schools that send no kids to West Point
It would be better for you if the kid that got accepted didn't use the congressional vacancy (assuming you live in the same congressional district) Typically, a congressman will fill one vacancy a year (i.e. appointment), but every fourth year he can fill two vacancies at a Congressman can have up to 5 cadets at SA. So when two graduates, he or she can appoint two more.

Yes, your high school doesn't matter in terms of the actual appointment. Just worry about your nominations if anything.
My school has sent at least 1 student to USMA each year for the last 4 or 5 years. It's actually awesome for us because we know upper classmen who are already there. At my overnight visit, they really took care of me, and it's comforting to know you still have your neighborhood brothers to keep you in line.
Even this year, three cadets from my city received USMA appointments. I was charged under the senator, another under our congressman, and the third under a presidential nomination. Your actual high school will probably only matter when considering its academic rigor in relation to the area and other schools in close proximity.

Admissions will not downgrade an individual candidate based on the number of applicants and/or appointees from that same high school. My son was appointed the same year as another member of his high school graduating class. Two or more , in the same year, from the same high school is not that uncommon. Admissions appoints the most qualified candidates regardless of where they attend high school. I am proud to say that both of the above mentioned made it through the four years together and are both serving officers.
Just tell the 2016 guy to do well his plebe year, so admissions gets the idea that your school rocks when it comes to producing USMA cadets.
By the way, I was going to wish the Cubs luck based on your moniker, but based on the standings it looks like another one of those years. Sorry, dude.
