1. Each MOC has a different deadline. Use the information your MOC's website's to determine when your nominations are due.

2. My MOCs did not bring up the CFA at all, nor was it a required part of the packet I sent in. I had my interviews two months before I took the CFA. They may ask about your physical fitness and what you do to stay active though.

Hope I helped.

Generally, the MOC's review boards do not ask for CFA scores nor do they include them in making their final decision. None of my MOC's asked to see my CFA scores, and from what I've gathered from talking to other appointees across the country, they simply do not ask for them at all. That being said, you should still strive to do the best you can on the CFA. It is still 10% of your total score, and doing well on it will do nothing but increase your chances of admission.

I'd also like to add that if you fail any one individual section of the CFA, it will most likely disqualify you. (They don't release what the minimum scores are.)

For USNA at least, the CFA need not be completed until March 1, long after MOCs have finished their selection process and submitted their slates. So, I would be very surprised if any MOCs considered the CFA.

However, I would also be surprised if they didn't consider your participation in organized sports and also probably make some judgements as to your fitness by the way you look (i.e., do you generally appear to be physically fit).

Remember; applying to one of the academies is like applying for a job. And when you meet with your Rep/Senator and ALO/MALO/BGO, it's like going to the "Job Interview" of a lifetime. You're applying not just to go to a top-10 university, but for a possible career.

What am I getting at? Even though your MOC isn't going to necessarily ask about your CFA scores or some other things, you can definitely use this to your advantage. Especially if you're the "Fast Burner" who get's their application done before high school starts for the year. Believe it or not, even though you have until February to complete your application, there are many applicants who are completely done by July/Aug before their senior year starts. They lined up everything in the spring of their junior year. They've got the folks lined up for recommendations; got their DODMRB done; their interviews; CFA; transcripts; etc... The only left for them was the MOC nomination interview.

During your MOC interview, you will be able to incorporate the entire application process into your answers. Little here and there. You can mention how you finished your application earlier than average. How motivated and organized you are. How determined you are. How your CFA scores are above the academy average. etc... The MOC might not ask about your CFA or the application itself, but that doesn't mean you can't slip in the good parts into your answer. You MOC/Staff sees dozens if not hundreds of applications for the military academies each year. "WHAT MAKE'S YOU DIFFERENT"? ALO/MALO/BGO/MOC's love seeing motivation and determination. I never tell an applicant that they have to finish their application early, but I do tell them that there are a lot of benefits to having your application 100% complete and ready to meet the appointment selection board on the very first meeting. This is the "Job Interview" of your life. Stand out; don't be arrogant, but at the same time, don't be shy or humble. Best of luck.

Our MOC did have a physical fitness score as part of the application. DS was able to use his CFA score as a substitute. Carefully read the MOCs website to determine what information is required when applying for a nomination.

Interesting. What state are you from? Just out of curiosity.
