I would appreciate any input on the Senior Graduation Cruise. Is it worth it for families to attend? It is costly, so wanted any input available.
Thankyou!

One option -- grad class of 2011

My family decided, along with my DD, to for go the 'Cruise' and use the $$ to see 2 Broadway shows....Blue Man Group and Adams Family.

We also had a great dinner at Le Alle restaurant.

Make sure you go to the USMMA Banquet and Dance!!!!! Great food and fun!

Can anyone approximate how much money the graduation events generally cost? I know everything is going to be pretty pricey, but I'd like to have some kind of ballpark figure. We need as much notice as possible to try to work the costs into our budget along with plane tickets for everyone.

Pricey.....right; well worth it.

My family of 3 (minus graduate on most items) MINUS the Cruise was $387 total.

We did for go other activities available for cost or no cost because my other daughter and her husband had never been to NYC. If we were not involved in a campus activity, we were in NYC....

Take part in as many things as you can.....Remember your camera/video cam/ phone...THIS WAS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME DAY FOR YOUR DD OR DS!!!

Our DD informed us that we would be doing the cruise. She also informed us that we would not be doing any activities on campus that involved food. She has some strong opinions about the food over the last 4 years.

We will be attending June Ball. But she and and our other favorite 1/C have definite plans for where they want to eat that weekend. It's their big event, so we're just going with the flow and doing what we're told.

We did the cruise when our DS graduated in 2001. Would not have missed it for the world. It was so much fun and great to see the grads together in a relaxed atmosphere having so much fun together...only challenge we had was that a few decided to literally jump ship as it was returning to dock at the end of the cruise and swim in...don't think that went over too well.

The memories are worth the cost. You can always go to a Broadway Show or some other activity...there will be only one senior cruise with your mid.

Just my opinion...everyone gets to make the call for themselves.

This all is starting to sound familiar ... similar to what we are being told in these parts and I don't blame them for one minute - as noted it is THEIR weekend and we all are celebrating and sharing in the happiness and pride at THEIR accomplishment. We've all been along for the ride these four or so years but they've been and are the ones who are doing it. I've never seen our DS so intense and focused on anything in his life as he is on the upcoming license exams. Celebration of completion and passing of their/his 'final" finals sounds like it was all of four hours out on last Thursday evening and now he and they are all pretty much back to having their noses to the grindstone.

Best wishes, good karma, etc. all going out to the USMMA Class of 2012 these next three weeks. Hang in there baby - the glare you see is definitely light at the end of the tunnel and NOT any oncoming trains.

Banquet - Grad Weekend

If I remember correctly, I think the Banquet was catered off campus.

Any 2011 attending, do you remember? Cocktail party and dinner was really good and more than enough to eat.

Caution by some that attended Cruise was to eat dinner before you go. There is no dinner served. Helps with motion sickness and the consuming of certain beverages.
