I want to say Thank you to everyone who has devoted so much time to this forum. I don't think that I will ever find the words to say how GRATEFUL I am for your time, your suggestions, your information, and your compassion. I don't know how I would have made it over this past 9 months without your help, support, concern, advice, humor, ideas, etc... I have a special thank you to Christcorp. I cannot ever say how THANKFUL I am for your invaluable advice, information, encouragement, and ideas. Maybe, one day all of you will know how very THANKFUL I am to every single one of you!
In two weeks, my son will begin his new life in the Air Force. He will start the road to his life's dream of becoming an officer in the military. He is excited beyond words and is passionate beyond my descriptions...
Yesterday we attended a luncheon put on by PANC (the Parents' Association of Northern California). I was overwhelmed by the amazing young men and women who will be attending the academy with my son. My son is truly honored to be serving alongside these talented and remarkable and honorable young future cadets. I was reminded of how "proud I am to be an American". My son will be serving with the wonderfully talented, bright, hard-working, loyal, and honorable young men and women. I could not ask for more for my son. My husband and I are truly blessed, and forever thankful that our son has the honor of serving alongside your remarkable sons and daughters. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT. I AM GRATEFUL FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME, MY FAMILY, AND MY SON. May my son serve in a way that honors this nation, the USAFA and all of you who have been instrumental in this amazing journey. THANK YOU!!!

I have to agree wholeheartedly with you, batmom! to all who have provided invaluable wisdom truly helped alleviate the tedious past months leading to acceptance and the coming in-processing day. let it be known that you encourage and provide inspiration by guiding prospective cadets through the process. don't ever get tired of answering our questions and concerns no matter how trivial they are. we are forever grateful and now face the challenge of doolie year armed with your advice and guidance. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I definitely agree. I was fighting my own doubts about making it into the AFA early in the year. I don't know if I would have ever completed the application process if I had not found this forum.

The support from the high school applicants, their parents, the AFA faculty and those currently serving in the AF has been invaluable. I owe more than my thanks for what has been given. I cannot imagine letting them all down. I'm going to work my hardest for this.

I will become the best officer I can be.

I agree!

Thanks Batmom for expressing your thank you so eloquently. I agree whole heatedly, and would like to add my thanks as well.

Batmom, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said!!! Thanks to all who have given us newbies a wealth of information. I can't even tell you how much I have learned from this site. This has been quite an experience, but it's nice to hear from others who have been through it and those who are still going through it. Thank you to all the moderators as well. I can't wait to go out to Colorado!! I am one of the lucky parents (I'm guessing) that my son is ok with us bringing him out for I Day. I look forward to meeting some awesome people and I look forward to the friendships that I will make. :jump1:

Batmom, I agree with you 100%.

I have gained so much knowledge about USAFA than I would have if I was not a member of SAF. Today I found out through the USAFA coach that I will not be getting a direct, or prep school appointment. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted, mentored, and given words of advice to help me better improve my application. I am happy to say that I have given it my all to become the best candidate for the class of 2016. However, it was meant to be that I do not receive an appointment this year. This is not the end. I will be attending NWPrep this fall, and look forward to joining those reapplying for the class of 2017. Best of luck to everyone in their endeavors.

Again, I cannot express in words all of the help every member has given me this past year. :thumb:

Good luck SkyDivingKittens!!!

Dear SkyDivingKittens,
I am confident that everyone will be hoping and praying for your success at NWP and your acceptance to the Class of 2017. You are the type of young man that will be an asset to the academy. Please keep us posted. We will all rejoice when you receive your BFE next year.
My best to you!

SDK,

There were a number of recruited athletes at NWP this last year. Keep focused and doing your best and enjoy the NWP experience. I look forward to seeing you in the Class of 2017.

I am sorry to hear that, SDK. Hang in there because we'll be there with you every step of the way (literally.. ha!). Although we didn't make it this year, I look forward to the opportunity to be in the same class with you. You are a strong guy with a great attitude and I truly believe that what is meant to be will be. Good luck at NWP this year!

+1000 to what everyone else said! There literally isn't a better forum out there. For everything having to do with the SAs and the mil in general, the people on the SAF are much more supportive, inspiring, and pleasant to listen to/read than any other forum I've browsed. As someone who is only just entering the process, this resource is priceless, and even though many of us may not post regularly, we lurkers are truly very grateful! I've learned so much just in the past 2 days from reading the "Life After the Academies" forum alone...

Thanks!

(And best of luck to everyone applying or reapplying! Your experience in this is equally invaluable.)

Skydiving kittens,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get direct or prep admission for this year but I'm glad that you are attending NWP this fall.

Hopefully, you Haley and our DS or DD attending USAFA Prep will all be in the USAFA class of 2017 next summer. :shake:
