Plebe Company assignments are now available to current Mids - DD has a connection to her NASS detailer and looked her up -- she is 24th Company -- which means M company, 24th Platoon in summer. Crosswalk is here >> http://www.usna.org/handbook/summer.html#company

Happy to have her mailing address for her friends.

Any scoop on 24th company?

It only matters for mail.

At this point of your journey, it really doesn't mean anything other than an address for your mail and care packages. Sit back and have some fun.. As you move forward into your 6 weeks, the training officers will let you know about your company traditions and expectations..

Any scoop on 24th company?

Is this any mid who has access? And where are they getting it from? I know a couple people currently there, and it would be a lot easier to getting my mailing address out to the several people who want it now instead of trying to get someone else to do it.

My understanding is any Mid - the rosters are available on their intranet. Plebes won't get told until near I day prob via a mailing. If you know a Mid - they can look it up.

Word is that for 2016 we aren't being told until Iday.

Friend of a friend looked me up and I'm in Echo company, 10th platoon! Any scoop on 10th?

I highly doubt that USNA wants the release of information in this manner. Please don't put MIDN in a corner to give you this information (it is actually a violation of the Acceptable Network Use Policy). Information on USNA's intranet is not for public knowledge unless specifically authorized (this goes along with official USNA email, schedules, etc.). So unless MIDN have been specifically told to release this information, it shouldn't.

10th is awesome, according to my Ensign!

There are 122 steps up to 5-4, so you'll be in excellent shape (that's Ac year company area, also part of 5-3). It's far enough away from King Hall that there aren't as many pests, but you still should keep food in sealed plastic boxes. :shake:

Okay, I know you're asking about what type of company it is. The problem is that things can change a lot from year to year. This year, not only do you have new Firsties, but the SEL and CO are both rotating out. For the past four years the 10 SEL has been a Marine Gunny, with a Navy LT as CO. Don't know who will be there this year.

10 has been considered a "training" company. 2012 had it very tough as Plebes, to the extent that the CO set tighter limits the next year, and after that. Still, the tough training simply pulled 2012 closer together, and that's not a bad thing. Maybe the most important thing to keep in mind, of 40 Plebes who entered 10th Company on I-day in 2008, 37 were Commissioned this year.

Don't sweat which company you're going to be in. I wouldnt bother asking someone to look it up for you, either. I know it's exciting to find out, but there's nothing you can change about it (no "oh no, I really didn't want to be a bearshark, please let me switch to somewhere else!") and it's too hard to network with other plebes in your new company...this is by design. Just let it be a pleasant (or not) surprise on I-Day.

Whichever one you get, by the end of the summer you'll probably be convinced its the best in the brigade. Unless you end up in a company farthest from everything exept liberty, you'll be wrong. And take anything you read online or hear from a mid about a company with a grain of salt. Culture in a company changes from year to year depending on the SEL/CO and in particular the firsties, who in some cases act radically different from either other classes or how they themselves acted in previous years.

2012mom? Thank you so much! What you wrote was much appreciated at this end -- especially by my own mother (she liked those graduation statistics!) :) I did an OV back in October and my host was in 10th company -- funny that I've now ended up in it.

And Hurricane2012, I know I can't change anything about my company or where I'm going. As my Dad told me "they're all stricter and harder than anything you're used to." I'm just curious about what I'm heading into. Also, pesky relatives keep asking me for my address. :p

Concur with the former and current Midshipmen perspective on this... just because one person tells you XYZ about a company will not necessarily be the same thing as when a Mid gets there. Each company has its own personality from year to year that is based upon their Senior Enlisted and Company Officer's leadership and most importantly the Firstie leadership/personality. Even then things can vary from squad to squad and can be vastly different. I know its hard as everyone wants to get as much information as possible, but to be honest with you, enjoy your last few weeks, don't sweat this kind of stuff and embrace the unknown. The unknown and being able to react and adapt to situations is part of what you learn at USNA... enjoy the ride!

in the mail

Well i got my letter with my company assignment in the mail today! I'm from Northern Virginia so mail usually only takes one day to get to me. It'll come! Oh and it is labeled "To the Parents of..." so you know:biggrin:
