Congratulations, enjoy it, you are the best and brightest our country has to offer. Thank you for taking on this challenge and for committing yourself to the service of our country.
My son has just finished his 2nd year. He has made friends that will last a lifetime. He has had opportunities that most will never experience. As much as he compares USAFA to a prison at times, he will be the first to tell you that he has it a lot better than his buddies at USNA and USMA. I know he is going back to Commit in August, in the meantime he has been to Spain already this summer, and will be going to Kuwait in the next couple of weeks. He knows that the opportunities for those that graduate are endless both in the private sector or in the AF if you want to make it a career.
God Bless all of you, and once again, THANK YOU!

Not trying to start anything negative on this forum, but just out of curiousity, why does he think he has it better than his buddies at USNA and USMA?

Again, just interested in seeing his perspective.

They compare notes. He does not feel one school is better than the others but that it is a little more relaxed. I did not mean this to offend anyone but rather praise the young men and women that are going to start there new lives as USAFA cadets.

2758ft....much,much higher than annapolis or west point!
some prefer ships and subs while others-tanks and foxholes.
whatever floats your boat:)

Like Devildog said, congratulations to all the incoming class of 2016 appointees! You are going to be starting the ride of your life! My son just finished his first year, and its everything he thought it would be and more.

And like LiveGold said, I don't really want to start anything negative, but I just want to show you what a dad just recently posted on a parent Facebook page about what happened with his son. I'm not mentioning any names or what year he is. But here is what his dad said, copied from the FB page-- "i dont know what to say,but dont let ur kids get consumed with facebook, texting ect.....,my son admitted to me he spent way to much time at this and not enough at school work, since he was 13 he wanted to be in the academy.now he is coming home....bad grades..kicked out, says he could do it,but played to much.chance of a lifetime lost.im devastated.hard lesson...i dont know what to do or say"

You'll get your computers in August, some squadrons will let you have your cell phones more than others, so access to Facebook, texting, fun and games will be there, but it will be up to each of you to get your priorities straight. You don't want anything to derail your dreams!

Thank You

DDog,
Thank you for the wonderful note. I gave it to my DS to read -- made him smile.

Good to know USAFA cadets maintain friendships with cadets from the other SAs.

Thanks again,
YM
