2016 (Soon to be) Basic Cadets,

The footprints are painted, your rooms are ready, your class motto has been selected, we know who you are (amazing what you can find on google and Facebook with just a name), we've been practicing for months, and our new Commandant has assumed command.

I hope you're ready...because WE ARE!

I saw them painting the footprints while over in the History department I think. I was fixing someone's internet and I saw it thinking... Oh great...

Class motto? I assume this a BCT thing, since in the past each class picks its own official class motto.

Now, each class picks its class exemplar (Lemay, Zeamer, Wright Bros). The class motto, gems such as 'best to be seen,' and 'like a machine,' are given to the new class.

2016:

WE who have gone before you, and before your cadre, know that you have what it takes; we've (those of us in the admission process) seen what you have, know your potential, and are confident in your ability.

You are our replacements! And in that we have a vested interest in YOUR performance.

Your cadre awaits. They're trained, they're eager, and they were precisely where you will be in a couple of days...a couple of years ago. This is NOT personal, although it will feel that way a lot...don't take it as such.

Focus on your goals, your classmates, and the task at hand. Live each day for each meal: I can make it to breakfast...I can make it to lunch...I can make it to dinner...

The days go slow, the weeks go fast, the months fly by...
