Are any other AD having an issue with getting their orders, to report to Prep school? My DS is so frustrated, and getting nervous as well.
He is being told that the system is down at his base, and has been for a while.

I know he's a big boy, and is doing everything he can, but I have to admit, I'm now nervous. He has to report in 2 weeks, has no orders, and no checklist.

Anyone else having issues?

I haven't been accepted to the Prep/Academy, but knowing how Big Blue handles orders, it could be till the last day that he gets orders.
When I graduated tech school, I got my orders the day after I graduated, trying to out-process in that little time before heading out sucks, but being Active Duty, Big Blue tells us to jump, and the only thing we can say is "How high?".
Just be patient, if he has any other problems, tell him to go to Personnel, they are the people who can help him the most.

Best of luck :thumb:

He's talked to everyone. 2 weeks from today, he's supposed to fly to COS. He never worries about anything, and has done very well in his short time with the AF. Him being stressed makes me nervous.

My orders to the prep school came last minute, and i got my appointment early as well.

I was hoping you would comment! So, how last minute? Less then 2 weeks?

I should add, thank you for responding, since you have the fire to deal with. Stay safe!

I didn't have an issue getting my orders, but I know at least one of the other selectees at my base are. There's really not much you can do about it, other than trust the system. When I was in tech school, I needed to transfer bases to head to the next course. Once I finally got my orders I noticed that my class date was, in fact, that day. Somehow I was able to out process and get to my next base within 24 hours. My gaining squadron even allowed me to stay in the class despite missing some of the early material.

Has he at least been notified of his assignment through vMPF, and turned in all items required to publish the orders?

Yea, he's done everything. They say the system is down, so he just has to wait it out.

My orders came through in a decent amount of time. I can't remember how fast though. The only issue I bumped into was that I wasn't aware that I needed amendments to authorize the return of my HHG's back to my home of record. It took an additional week or so for the amendments to come through...

He won't be held liable for it. They will do everything in their power to work with him. I'm just saying though, the fire is getting awfully close to the prep school area. Who knows what well happen overnight. I think this fire is crazy. I've never seen anything like it.

I hate to get off the original topic, but how close to the prep school is it?

They evacuated base housing. They had Sijan Hall on evac, but at last minute decided to postpone. I think accountability issues are what is holding them back at this point in time. DD said they will not leave tonight.

So how far away from the prep school is it do you know? I'm not sure where base housing is in relation to the prep school (don't have my map that came with the package in front of me at the moment).

It's just up the hill from the Pine Valley housing. The community center, commissary, bx, enlisted dorms, dining hall and gym are all right there together. The community center has military and civilian personnel, post office, outdoor recreation and the library to name a few.

I guess what I'm asking for is an approximate distance. I'm aware that most people here won't be able to provide this...but I was hoping someone would be able to.

If you go to the thread about the fire, you can see a picture i posted that i took near the prep school yesterday afternoon. I would just re post it, but I'm on my phone, not computer.

The 10th Air Base Wing Commander has determined that movement of personnel, both TDY and PCS, should be stopped effective immediately for Airmen and civilians projected to the Academy. Check out our website for more details (GM) -

This might put a damper on things...

Hmm, maybe we should be expecting phone calls or holds on orders very soon.

I thought the same thing.

However, my DS needs to have orders first, to have put on hold...

What a mess right now.
