Can You Survive the next 7 weeks?

Nice Video--sharing ;). Saw some nice cadre pics of you btw.

Parent of a 2016 swab - that was a rough day, especially for him. The CGA did a great job in telling us what to expect and how to support them but, nonetheless, I'm anxious to hear how it's going when/if we get a letter from him. I figure no news is good news.

You are correct Phil11...no news most certainly is good news. And I second your statement that CGA does a great job of preparing us parents to leave at the end of Rday. I actually felt better leaving than I did arriving that particular morning.

The ride is bumpy, and know that all extremes are "normal". Some will get the "I wanna come home" letter or phone call, some will not. But most of the time, by the time you are reading the letter, the storm has passed. Phone calls are the hardest, if they are struggling. Try not to attempt to "fix" the problem...that is what your cadet's classmates are for. Just listen and support. And bite your tongue if you find yourself wanting to try to fix the situation!

Three years later, we are still here...sometimes I think the finish line is in sight, and sometimes it appears to be a mirage on the distant horizon. Must follow my own advice and just listen from afar, support as needed, and remember that the cadets' journeys are in their own hands. We are just loving observers who are along for the ride.

Good luck 2016.

At 50 seconds.... eyes out of the boat AND smiling.

I did have one question.... are all of the cadre wearing red cords?

Swab Summer Cadre in both cadre sections wear red agulletes.
AIM Cadre wear green cords.
Waterfront Cadre wear white and blue cords.
CGAS Cadre wear solid blue cords.

I see!

During my swab summers (as a swab and as a cadre), PCs wore red, XOs wore red and white, squad leaders wore green, training squad leader wore green and white and I think waterfront wore blue. I think the battalion staff wore dark blue.

I kept seeing red and thought there were A LOT of PCs running around yelling.

The color coding made it a little easier to figure out. I got yelled at by green all the time, but when I got yelled at by red, I knew green would follow up later as well.

Believe it or not, being a cadre is even more tiring than being a swab.
