THE SERIES: Merchant Marine leads 24-12.

LAST YEAR: Senior quarterback Christian George had 312 yards of total offense including a 10-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds left, capping a nine-play, 80 yard drive lifting Coast Guard to a 36-31 win over Merchant Marine as the Bears won the Secretaries’ Cup for the first time since 2003.

ROAD WOES VS. MERCHANT MARINE: Coast Guard has not won a road game vs. Merchant Marine since 1996 when the Bears beat the Mariners 23-13 and earned the program’s first berth to the NCAA Playoffs. Coast Guard is 0-5 at Kings Point, N.Y. since that win and the Bears have been outscored 142-48 in those five games.

SOME MUCH FOR HOME COOKIN’: Coast Guard head coach Bill George, who grew up in Glens Falls, N.Y., has not won as a head coach in his home state. The Bears are 0-13 in the state of New York in his nine seasons.

BEARS CONTINUE TO OWN THE BOGAN: Coast Guard has won back-to-back New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division championships since joining the conference in 2006. The Bears have been a perfect 7-0 in each of the last two seasons in division play. They will put their 14 game Bogan Division winning streak on the line at Westfield State on Sept. 27th.

That is very cool. I might just have to try to watch, provided I own a computer at that point.

:sofa:

Well that was ugly. :unhappy::unhappy::unhappy:

What an ol' fashioned butt-whippin'. :yikes:

Congrats to the Mariners. :beer1:

yeah, not a pretty day on the soccer pitch or the football field for the Bears. Now CG can go about winning the rest of their games this year.

The volleyball score was 3 to what again? Let's not get carried away here!

{Hint: 0}

Not sad I didn't tune in then.

I guess there's always Mass. Maritime to beat then...or a local high school. :eek:
