Hello everyone, hopefully one person will read this. This is my first post on the forum, apology for the long post.

I'm a rising senior that hopes to attend USMA and USNA this upcoming year for the class of 2017. While at the moment I'm not so worried about the academy, the nomination process has put me at point where I'm stressed and unclear on how I should approach my situation. I currently reside in Florida, and as nominations go my congressman are Sen.Rubio, Sen. Nelson, and Rep.Mica. Their deadlines for the academy nominations go as follow with the order Sept.5 for Sen.Rubio, Sept. 7 for Sen.Nelson, and Oct. 6 for Rep.Mica. My plan originally was to have taken at least the SAT/ACT once before summer which I did. I took my SAT in January and took the ACT in June. Both score aren't that great being that I only took them once. Back to my plan, I had originally planned that over my summer vacation I would dedicate time to study for my SAT/ACT and then take both test at the possible earliest test date. At that time I had assume that the first available test would be around August . However, I was wrong the test dates that are the earliest are around September and October. The SAT date is Oct. 6th and the ACT date is Sept. 8th. So my plan took me a terrible step back and now I'm stressed about my situation. I have practically lost two chance of nomination due to my terrible assumption and I leave myself with one congressman now. However what worries me is that if I do take the ACT test will I still be able to reach the deadline in time for Rep.Mica.? If anyone could possibly shed some wisdom and advice I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks for your time and help!

PS. Please excuse my grammar mistakes writing isn't one of my strong traits:redface:

You should send your applications to all of your senators and congressman using your old SAT/ACT scores, and let them know that you are retaking ACT/SAT in Sept and Oct. They can update your SAT/ACT scores when you send the new scores directly from collegeboard and ACT. I will follow up by calling them or e-mailing them when your new scores are sent.

Check with your MOCs to when they will make the decision. My MOC allows applicant to update their information after the application deadline. In case of my MOC, he does an interview about month after the application deadline and the interview board accepts any additional information provided by the applicant during the interview.

Continue full speed ahead following the advice given above. Additionally, continue with your applications to the service academies. SA Prep Schools are for well rounded students that need a boost in academics. Nominations are not required for entrance into the Prep Schools (only the SAs). Therefore, if you have a great record minus qualifying test scores, you will be considered for admission to Prep. From there you will have a path to the SA. You will then work the nomination process while at the Prep.

The Prep School is not for everyone. About 200 each year, something like (I don't know the exact precentage) 30% underrepresented miniorities, 40% athletes, and 30% soldiers.

There is also the civil prep program, which is something like 50 each year.
