Accepted for class of 2016, however...

I was accepted to the class of 2016 at West Point, but I broke my arm two weeks before flying out in a motor accident (I wasn't at fault, and was 5 under the speed limit. Pretty shoddy luck ha). Basically that medically disqualified me for this year, but I was told I had a LOA for the class of 2017. Where does this appear on the portal? I'm re-doing the essays and all that stuff but I don't see anything anywhere that states I have a LOA.

Also, I'm writing a formal letter to the congressman who nominated me for this year to see if I can get another one for this year, but as for the state of Texas, does anybody know if I'm just going to be "another candidate" again?

Did you receive a "Letter of Assurance" in the mail from the Admissions Office?

No I have not. I'm guessing since its still July they haven't been mailed out yet, but I was wondering if its supposed to show up on the portal.

Im confused. You were guaranteed an LOA last year, for this year?

call your admissions officer at West Point and find out. I wouldn't wait.

Because I was medically disqualified AFTER being accepted in to the class of 2016, I was told I would be secured a LOA for the following year.

And my FFR isn't responding, but you're right I'll make the call. Thanks.

Because of the circumstances (accepted and medically disqualified shortly before R-Day with a non-permanent condition), receiving an LOA for next year is quite the norm. I would call your Regional Admissions person to ask exactly what they will need from you for your re-application. Unless things have changed a lot, LOA's don't appear on the portal - they arrive in the mail after being issued. Hope you had a good Plan B to keep yourself busy this year. Stay safe!

By FFR, I assume you mean your field force rep. I would go right to your Admissions Officer who is located at West Point. FFRs are great, but they would probably just contact the Admissions Officer.

The database that FFRs see indicate if a candidate has been offered a LOA and the LOA date.
Agree with the advise to contact the RC at WP since this is a special situation.
Another13mom is correct in that LOAs for your situation are not unusual. If WP told you that you have a LOA for next year, then you have a LOA for next year.
Still - I would contact the RC and have that discussion just to make sure that he is aware of your situation. Ask if you will receive a LOA letter and your nomination question. LOAs have not gone out so it makes sense that if you are to receive a letter in the mail, that you have not received it yet.

Thank you all for the answers; I've sent an e-mail out to my regional commander during my time in the hospital, but June 22 the Southwest commander changed so I sent another e-mail updating him on the situation and asking whats going on. Will call tomorrow or on Monday if there isn't a response.
