I am applying to West Point for the fall. I reported my ACT scores. My SAT scores were very much lower and so I did not report them. They are now on my portal because they were on my transcript. Will the really not be looked at since my ACT scores were much higher?

Yup. West Point super scores. If you did better on the ACT than the SAT then they will throw out the SAT.

Superscoring is using your best score of each subsection from each time you take the ACT or SAT. It creates your best composite.

SA2017 - WP will evaluate you on the standardized test that you did best on.
In your case, the ACT. Your SAT will not be used against you.

Continue to take both the SAT and ACT to take advantage of superscoring.

Take the SAT 1-2 more times to try and get those scores up. In some cases focus more on the sections that you recieved the lowest score. For instance if a person got a 740 in math but around 600s in writing/verbal, the next time they take the SAT don't stress about the math section. Use it as a break.

I did this knowing the scores would be superscored, and it worked out pretty well in the end. Obviously I did more SAT prep for the sections I wanted to improve, but I would still take the ACT any day of the week over the SAT.

So lets say you do use this method, and a person's writing/verbal goes up to about the 670s, but math goes down to the 690s. That is the beauty of superscoring.

You take the 670s from the second test, but the 740 from the first test, giving a score of 2080.

Just remeber that not all colleges superscore. So if you are going to apply to other colleges and attend one of them if you don't get into West Point don't take too much "break" on the section you did good on the last SAT.

Also, NROTC Marine Option doesn't superscore. They take your most recent sitting... just to re-emphasize that taking the "break" strategy isn't always a good idea as MemberLG pointed out.

AFROTC does not superscore and I don't think AROTC does but not positive on that one.
