I am a 2018 hopeful and I have always been a Denver Broncos fan. I want to go to their games. Are USAFA freshmen allowed to attend broncos games. Can we after BCT? Or we don't have any privileges yet.

Thanks:)

A Broncos fan, they will have a tough year, without Tebow, but a least you are not an Eagles fan.

I'm from Colorado, so the Broncos are my favorite team too! As a Doolie, you will not be able to leave on the weekends. I'm not sure about sophomore year

Not true.

As far as going to Broncos Games, it would depend a lot on the circumstances. You will be issued a certain number of weekend passes (and can earn more). If you plan right, can borrow a car from an upperclassman, and get tickets, it would be possible to get this to work. Another option would be to have an awesome sponsor family with season tickets who would take you to a Sunday afternoon game since you don't need a pass to go to your sponsors. An 1100 Sunday game would be good in order to give yourself time to get back to the Academy. A Saturday night game would be even better since you wouldn't have to push it to be back to USAFA by 1700 hrs on Sunday.

Our son did make it to a couple of Broncos games and a few Rockies games while he was out there, but I don't really remember which years he went.

It would definitely not happen until after BCT...probably later in the NFL season.

Obviously without a 2014 NFL schedule in hand there is no way to know if it would be possible right now.

My apologies. I had always thought that doolies could never leave.

Don't believe that is correct either as they have over night passes not weekend passes and yes they can earn over night passes and they can loose them too.If it happens later in NFL year, Academics and Military knowledge would be important for priviledges...Now correct me if I am wrong

They very well could be called overnight passes rather than weekend passes. I do not know and I'm sorry if I got the terminology wrong. Our son usually got picked up by his sponsor family on Friday night on blue weekends and returned on Sunday afternoon. On silver weekends they picked him up after LMD on Saturday. (Often LMD was a home football game in the Fall). Son often said that he usually had more passes than he could use in a semester.

Yeah that's true. Manning is old and he will get injured eventually. What happened to the Eagles?

Thank you everyone who answered my questions. Can't wait to start my application :)

As a person who knows that Steeler Football is a religion, one questions the suitability of a Broncos fan for admission to any US Service Academy.

Just kidding.... just kidding....

Cadet Here...

There are some things said on here that are right and some that are not. Yes, you get passes (typically 5 a semester as a doolie or 15 if you are top squad during basic) and can possibly earn more. There is no restriction on whether or not they are 'overnight' or 'weekend' passes, in fact both of those do not exist. There are just passes. To leave for the day, you use one. Over night you use 2. For a whole weekend you use 3. Every Sunday you have unchargable passes to spend the day at church or with your sponsor family.

The catch is, as a doolie, your squadron can restrict you whenever they want, usually with not much notice, so making plans is hard. But, if you are set on going to games you can submit what is called a SSS, which is basically paperwork that allows you to go off even if you are restricted. It usually has to be turned in 2 weeks in advance so I would plan for that. So you should be able to at least make a couple of games.

Hope that helped

Luigi...

Oh my. That was not the Steelers' best game, ya know? and he bought blew us right out of the stadium!

Still... looks like Mr. T wasn't the most popular guy in town.

I guess I am the bah humbug of the group. Given that only 1000 out of 6000 qualified applicants to USAFA actually get in and that 25% of those will wash out for academic performance, I would not be worried about going to a Broncos game before I even started my application. Your freshman year, you will consider it a privilege just to be able to watch a Broncos game on TV. I would worry about what it takes to get accepted to USAFA and about what it takes to remain at USAFA first and Broncos' Football second.

I know. I'm am just wondering about it and if i will have the privilege to go to Broncos games. THATS ALL!!

It's no privilege to watch a Broncos game.

::grumbling and mumbling::

(OK, quit harping! I'm just making a joke!)

Seriously: when the Steelers played in the SuperBowl during my sons' 4* year, one was allowed to watch part of the game (2nd half, after half time, I think) but the other was allowed to watch with his squad in their lounge area as I recall. They saw just tiny bits and pieces of the regular NFL season. Later, their favorite team (duh, the STEELERS) was not always on their TV lineup - as either the Broncos might have been on or another western team.

Steelers and Denver kick off their 2012/3 season on September 9th.

..that 25% of those will wash out for academic performance..
The 25% that "wash out" leave for various reasons including academic performance. I would venture a guess that more leave because they choose to rather than because they fail academically.
