IBOLC Update

Wow! Please congratulate and thank your DS on his accomplishments and aspirations. You must be very proud.

Sounds like he can celebrate his great accomplishment with all the cheeseburgers, shakes and assorted other high cal foods he wants:biggrin:

The heat was brutual -- heard stories of "ice sheets" from DS now that he's home and talking about BCT at Benning. I hope Westminister's DS is continuing to recover from heat illness while at IBOLC also.

Congrats to your DS on one more step to his goal being completed:thumb:

Tell your son Great Job from all of us.

Sounds like it's time to hit the pasta bar and desert tray at the Defac. A good deal of his weight loss is probably water, that should come back quickly.

From the link you posted loooks like the last couple weeks are a little less intense, time to get the body ready for Ranger School. I heard they drop some weight during that training as well.

Best of luck to your son.

Congrats to your DS NorwichDad. No easy accomplishment. I hope he regains his weight quickly.

Reminder: Steaks and sweet potato fries at Hunter's Pub, Exit 25 - I-185. Great food in a seedy looking place. If he doesnt like the food, I'll pick up his tab.

Norwich Dad congrats to your son for completing IBOLC and good luck with Ranger school. DS is doing better but still not 100 percent and will have to recycle to complete last 4 weeks. He is trying to get out of HHC. He was recommended to be the XO for a basic training company until he is fully recovered so he is in a holding pattern for now. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts to his speedy recovery.

Best Wishes to your son, It has been a really tough and hot summer. Congrats on the XO position. It will be a great experience for him.

Thanks all for the kind words

I think he has eaten at least 10 Mcdoubles today and quite a few other things. He does need to fatten up. It will quickly come off in ranger school.

Received great news from DS. He graduated with his class from IBOLC Sept 6th. He has been assigned a PL spot at the HHC until he fully recovers and can begin Ranger school hopefully in November.

Awesome news, congrats. I was there. It was a nice ceremony and I think everyone was glad it was done. Best wishes and congrats again to your DS.

Ceremony had great speakers and then a reception at the golf course. Spent four days with my DS and just got back. He got a lot of rest and eating. Breakfast at Huddles, lunch at the firehouse, hunter's pub and dinner at number of places. Some long walks discussing the future and the past. Infantry Museum was awesome. DS needed the rest and got it. He put on 12 pounds in the last 7 days. It was great to see him.

DS said it was a great graduation ceremony. Will be going to the Ranger graduation whenever that occurs. Looking forward to going to the Infantry museum. Norwich Dad good luck to your DS at Ranger school.

Congratulations to your sons, NorwichDad and WestminsterDad, and best wishes for their unrecycled success in Ranger School. Theirs will be among the last classes to be all-male, at least for now. (I wonder if the people who call it "Man School" will change their name for it.)

In the meantime, if they are stuck in Ft. Benning and need to bulk up in anticipation of the substantial weight loss in Ranger School, they should plan to arrive regularly at the Popeyes on Dixie Road at 11:10 a.m. sharp. The store will been open just long enough for the excess grease to have drained from the freshly fried chicken, which will be crispy and hot, and the biscuits will be pleasantly edible.

Congratulations to the sons of NorwichDad and WestminsterDad.

I second EDelahanty's recommendation for Popeye's, that will surely put the weight back on.
