Quick Question

Dietary preferences have no impact on admission unless its severe such as vegan lifestyles. There are plenty of vegetarians here at the Academy and vegetarian options are offered at every meal.

Will the Coast Guard Academy not accept me if I had to become vegetarian?

"if you had to"?

Other than a medical reason that would probably keep you out of the academy anyway, why would anyone "have to" become vegetarian?

Unless you have a medical condition that is forcing you to become a vegetarian, no one in admissions would even know about your food preferences unless you bring it up..

I'm a vegetarian currently at the Academy...you'll be fine. The vegetarian meals here are better than the regular one's anyways :)

Then you've never had alpine grill!!! (and if the wardroom doesn't still do that, I will be sad)

If alpine grill does exist.... I recommend not eating it the period before you run the 1.5 mile.

Two cheese burgers and fries before the 1.5 mile run will make it notable.

Thank you. And yes I may "have to" become vegetarian because I may be allergic to meat

IMHO, the "vegetarian" part of your (possible) future diet will not be the DODMERB concern.

The allergy will.

Food allergies almost always trigger a remedial, and in many cases a DQ.

Some can be waivered, some cannot, as the military cannot always guarantee the food supply chain in the field and it can become a serious medical issue as some food allergies can have deadly consequences.

Don't "self-disqualify" by not applying on what "might" happen. Let THEM make that call.

Good luck!
