My best friend and fellow aviator just taught the first ROTC class at Harvard in about 40 years. Apparently CNN was outside the building.

At least they have a WP grad to get them off on the right foot!

"Light and Truth"

Full disclosure: Yale alum and former Marine (via PLC) here. The website and PDF do both talk about ROTC being "restored" to Yale, and the PDF mentions the "long absence." As a current history teacher, I agree they could emphasize the time of absence somewhat more, but on the other hand they are trying to build by emphasizing the positives in the historical relationship between Yale and ROTC.

I think it's great it's back--a mistake (in my view) has been rectified--and I give a lot of credit to Harvard's president for taking the lead on the trend of restoring ROTC to the Ivies (do I think this benefits the Ivies far more than ROTC? Absolutely!). I will also say that when I participated in PLC during the late 80s I got a ton of support from classmates and faculty, although I still had to "educate" some on my desire to pursue a commission. It was alway a respectful dialogue, though.

That's great. Sounds like the Army is sending their best. I hope your friend has a great experience--those Cantabs are certainly lucky to get such an instructor.

Always emphasize the positive. Check out all the Yale graduates in every War the US has ever fought.

So far, beyond impressed with the way Yale has welcomed AFROTC? My dd is one of the 6 Yale cadets:)

I am really glad to hear that! Best of luck to your DD as she progresses through Yale and towards her commission.

Good Luck To Her. Stay off the Green at night! Stay in the Colleges. Try Sally's or Pepe's if you can get in at Wooster Square for great Pizza. Best during the middle of the week since the parking is better.:thumb: Chapel Srreet has some some great resteraunts from many different cultures. Thai are some of the best in Connecticut.

Thai is some of the best period. When my wife was in med school there, our first date was at Thai Taste on Chapel. Highly recommended. And you can't leave without trying a Roomba burrito at least once.
