Medical Disqualification & Application Consideration

Last week I was disqualified by DoDMERB. It appears that the doctor they sent me to for the remedial may have misinterpreted the test results or maybe DoDMERB just has a truly bizarre interpretation of the accession standards. I've been working with the nice folks at DoDMERB to try and figure this out, but it is not going anywhere terribly fast.

So, it appears unlikely that this will be resolved before the early action deadline. Does the fact that DoDMERB has disqualified me have any bearing on the consideration of my application? I let my admissions officer know that I had been medically disqualified and briefly explained what I thought was going on, thought not in very much detail. Is that enough?

Thanks!

Yes it has EVERY bearing at this point, but that is because now you need a waiver.

Post on the Medical part of this website.

Do not lose hope, many of us had to go through the DODMERB process. I had more than my fair share of DODMERB disquals, each letter a punch in the gut, but it all ended up OK, I got the waivers and it was fine.

There is some very good advice from the medical part of this website.

Actually, for consideration of an Early Action decision, it does not.

You can still get a conditional appointment under EA (around Dec 15th) that is contingent upon DODMERB medical qualification by June 1.

It is not uncommon.

My daughter was disqualified also... for getting Alllergy Shots ?!?!?
from the USArmy doctors (shaking my head)... but we are just gonna let it take its course, and not freak out about it.. We will fight it is there is not a waiver given.

Yes you should fight it...my son had the shots too and was initially rejected...he got the waiver without remedials...just had to submit evidence that it's not a problem with his football and track backgroumd.

I already yelled (not really) at the folks at the allergy clinic at the Army hospital for not forwarning me! :) She also does track and field, but hasnt had any issues either, even while she did soccer... Guess the shots helped!

The doctors suggested that I get my 13 yr old son tested and start him on shots, I told them NO way! :)

I believe DODMERB requires that the shots be discontinued for more than 1 year before R-day/I-day.

D123.21 - AIT, Current or within the previous year (History of allergy immunotherapy within the previous year.)
