NROTC results

If your DS or DD was selected for a scholarship they can log on to the NROTC website to find out.
My DSs package didn't make the first board, but he was notified yesterday via the website that he had been selected.

Waiting is BRUTAL!!

DS had NROTC package completed and in well before first board. Still has "No Decision" on website. He is also candidate for USNA and USAFA. His AFROTC package is finally done. He has already been through medical and has been qualified. I thought the applications and red tape would be the difficult part but the waiting is absolutely brutal.

Yes it is. I hope you're not waiting until April only to receive bad news like we did last year. If that happens there is always the college programmer unit at one of his five favs (that you can afford). But hopefukly you'll get good news in time. :thumb:
 
The waiting is hard. My DS has not been through the medical yet. Having watched a number of buddies get NAMI wammied back in the day, it's not a done deal until all the work is completed.
My hopes are with both of you.

DS is applying to our ONLY state school that has engineering, Georgia Tech. How is that for a fall back school? GT is also on his list of five because he had to choose an in-state school. I wish there was something more that I could do for him because he is not very motivated to go there but without the ROTC scholarship he will have to go to a in-state school. He does plan to be a college programmer though which makes his mother and I very proud to know that he will be going forward regardless of the obstacles in his path.

Good for him. He'll come out fine although it's distressing to hear about the college situations. Get your FAFSA done early. I'm assuming the college applications are underway. You never know. My DS is attending his first choice out-of-state school which we couldn't do without the scholarship he got that brought tuition down near to what it would cost in-state. Hopefully something will turn up to enable a plan B he'll be happier with if Plan A doesn't work out.

I don't know if you have considered Texas A&M as a college choice for your son, but if a student is a member of the Corps of Cadets, they receive in-state tuition rates regardless of where they are from. This might be good to look at for ROTC - great school, 2300 cadets strong, excellent leadership in top ranks. A&M also has a great engineering program. :thumb:
 
At the very top of the ROTC forum is a sticky regarding colleges that have in the past given financial incentives. It may have changed over the years, so it would also be best to check with the unit and/or bursar to see if they still offer these incentitives. They vary from reduction in tuition to free R & B or a flat monetary amount to be used either for tuition or R & B.

Post 15-20 is an alphabetical list of many of the schools.
