USAFA lost a cadet today. Please keep the family and the cadet wing in your thoughts and prayers.

:frown: Thank you for sharing that sad news...the cadet and their family and friends will be in my prayers...that`s truly horrible...I just hope that while the cadet died, it was not due to...suspicious circumstances.

As this is still very close to the academy, and even we have told to keep this hush hush. I'm asking that the moderators take this down. Please.

While I understand your concern and feelings, the story is also on the "official" air force website. So its not inappropriate here.

I apologize. I guess we're all just a little hypersensitive about it here.

No problem. We understand your feelings and share your loss. The academy app website also has the story. I'm sure the will print information in a tasteful manner for both the family and cadet wing.

Saying prayers for the cadet, the family, and all his/her brother and sister cadets. May the Lord hold each of you in the palm of His hand and may you all feel His presence in this difficult time.

+1 :frown:

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Academy community, the family and the Cadet.

God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

Very sad for the cadet wing, I think this is the 4th AFA cadet to die in the last 10 months.

Please pray for the family of this cadet...

Lord,
I pray tonight and know that countless families from around this nation and this world are praying for the family of this young cadet. Lord, the heartache and sadness for them is truly unimaginable, and we ask you to uplift this family in a time of great need and great heartache. Please know that our prayers are with them as they face such a painful time ahead, and may everyone continue to remember them in their prayers in the months to come... With sincere prayers and concern, batmom

My understanding was that this death was NOT an accident.

Until the Air Force releases the details officially, I would ask that folks refrain from "speculation" or other comments.

Yes, "things" were posted on FB, including the cadet's name. However out of respect for the family, I would ask that we simply mourn the cadet's passing and refrain from further comment until the AF/Family speak "officially."

The following information has now been officially distributed to parents and Parent Group representatives by the President of the Rando Humanitarian Fund:

I've just received the following information. Some of you may have already heard the sad news that C1C Matthew Patrick of Dallas, TX passed away on Friday, September 28th at the Academy. Matthew's parents and his sister have chosen the Dennis P Rando Cadet Humanitarian Fund as the recipient of donations made in Matthew's memory. As I always do, I will share with the family, a list of all donors as well as the total amount of all donations to the Fund in Matthew’s memory.

The family has set up a memorial website for Matthew. It’s available at this link: http://www.matthewthescienceguypatrick.com/

Services will take place at the Academy on Thursday, Oct. 4th, and in Dallas, TX on October 13th. Details about both services are available at the site. Our most sincere condolences to the Patrick family and friends.

As a result of the Rando Fund’s new association with the Academy’s Endowment, please note that at the website and below, how to go about making a donation by check or credit card.

For a donation using a credit card, go to the Endowment’s Rando Fund link: https://giving.usafa.org/give/rando

In the Notes/Special Instructions box, please indicate the donation is being made in memory of C1C Matthew Patrick.

You may also send a check made payable to: USAFA Endowment with “Rando Fund” printed on the check memo line to:

USAFA Endowment

3116 Academy Drive, Suite 200

USAF Academy, CO 80840-4475

Please be sure to include a note indicating the Rando Fund as the intended recipient of your donation and that the donation is being made in memory of C1C Matthew Patrick. Please be sure to include your or your organization’s name and address. This will enable the Endowment and me to send a letter of acknowledgement.

Thanks!
jb

Parents club in Dallas has open homes

Cadets wishing to attend the Dallas service should contact the North Texas Parents club as homes have been offered should the cadets want a place to stay.

I am sure there is a "proper channel" to get that done, but however cadets can be made aware is a good thing.

Thank you,
D

The cause of his death remains under investigation.

Homicide? Drugs? Illness? Suicide? Natural causes?

Seems odd that an official cause of death for a USAFA cadet, found dead on the grounds of the USAFA, has not been made public yet.

Why is it so important for you to know? I am just asking.
