Hello everyone, just flew in from Elmendorf for a paid TDY to the Academy based on how good my application looks so far to the Admissions staff.
I'll be updating this thread as I go through my adventure here.
So far I have been trying to get used to the elevation and the lack of sleep. My cadet escort is a 4th degree prior service Comm guy (same job as me actually). He was a direct entry for this year, so the rumor of there being no direct entries for priors last year is false. My escort is also in CS-8, so if anybody has a DD or DS in that squadron I have possibly met them.
Will get back to this thread as soon as I get some sleep and some new adventures to recall.

Im glad to hear that i Just recently finished my app and im a reserve Guy trying to get direct entry how long ago did you apply??

I started in March, I have everything done besides my CFA and Dodmerb exam, I'm actually talking to my admissions counselor right now and sorting out the bugs and things that pop up on my exam

That's cool, I wish you the best bro! I just have my medical exam left so hopefully that goes well And i just cross my fingers and toes until March or earlier. I hear the board starts meeting in October.

I recently saw a statistic for the Class of 2016 that said there were 52 prior service airman. I remember hearing that only 35 or so moved up from the Prep school so I assumed that some must have received direct entry appointments.

I'll find out more statistics tomorrow, my group is having class and lunch with preppies, so I might see your son or another prior enlisted preppie from this forum. And today we toured the athletic facilities, crazy how big and the amount of buildings they have for all the sports. And I also visited the Falconry where all the falcons USAFA are kept.

More to come as I experience tomorrow and the day after!

Ya. I talked to my son tonight and he is planning to go to a question and answer session with the DVPs tomorrow.

Too bad the weather has been cold and not sunny for your visit.

Actually the weather is awesome right now, sunny and hot. I'm currently at the Prep right now, so if your son wants to escort an airmen tell him to look for Bourdeau, A1C, tallest guy out of the group haha

They do a trip with 25 people, a mix of Guard/Reservd and Active Duty. I asked how many LEAD applicants have applied this year and they said about 90 have applied so far.

Preppy

Best of Luck to you. My dd is at the Prep School this year. Were you at least invited to the football game today?

Yes my group managed to get up go to the game, it was a blast! Very hot, but still a blast. Felt bad for all the freshmen that game with how bad CSU got whooped , but at least now I know the chants for the various things, a.e first down, touchdown, etc.

Heading back to Alaska today, but this visit was a blast and hope to get in next year!

Did you happen to attend a chemistry class while you were here? I may have seen you. I had chemistry with like eight airmen that were visiting the prep school Friday.

No I did not LFry, I wasn't in that group of airmen, I took a tour of Squadron 1 and talked to some of the priors while I was there.

I sat up on the stage for questions after the vice commander's briefing. You might remember me. I was somewhat towards the middle, the RPA guy.

How'd you like the prep school?

Possibly haha but I can't remember. And the prep school sounds awesome, but if I can get in Direct I'd prefer that, most of the classes the Prep School offered I took my Junior and Senior year of high school, and even though I have been out of high school for almost a year and a half, I remember most of the material, and actually sat in my cadet escort's (Up on the Hill) Calc 1 and German class and I managed to keep up. But my main goal is to get to the Academy, so any way possible will do.

Questions about application

Hello I'm applying for USAFA this year and I was curious what kind of act scores you guys had? what kind of base involvement you have? your high school background so I can get a good idea of how competitive my package will be. My medical exams are scheduled and the only other thing i have to complete is my candidate activities record. I am trying to get in touch with as many prior service applicants as I can to better my chances and just to find out how the application process is going for others.

I'm in Squadron 1. Did C/C Rose give you the tour?
