Hi all, I'm a bit of a lurker, thank you all for the information that you share, it's so helpful.

I had a question about board process. My son finally finished his ROTC app last week, and everything has been received. Do the schools he ranked see his choices (and their rank)? Will the PMS at these schools have a say? I guess I'm really unclear about what happens between submitting the app and the board members actually meeting. Thanks in advance for any insight!

The schools will each see the application and the rankings.

The PMS will look at all the applicants that have listed their school and then check either Yes, No, as to whether they would want them in their program.

Not much to do now but wait, if your son takes the ACT or SAT again they can submit the scores if they are better, they can also rearrange their school choices and I believe add one for another. Other then that nothing can be changed. Now comes the hard part...the waiting.

Best of luck to your son.

When my daughter applied, the PMS at the school that offered her a scholarship knew the ranking on her list.

It is my understanding that a PMS can red light or green light a candidate for their particular school, but that does not affect the the overall OML. That is when a candidate's OML position is up, a school can take itself out of the running for that candidate or leave itself open for the scholarship to be offered.

It is also my understanding that a PMS will often red light a candidate if they do not think the candidate will be admitted to the school because it ties up a scholarship (until the candidate releases it).

X-posted with Jcleppe.

One other note, in the end my daughter got a campus scholarship from the PMS who asked her about why they were not #1 on her list. She made it clear that her initial ranking was based upon her goaltending prospects. When that school's coach gave an appropriate signal, the PMS (who was kept in the communication loop) made the offer.

Point here is that keeping in communication with schools in play is a good thing.

Thank you so much everyone! This makes the process a whole lot clearer.

Sorry, I had to chuckle at the comment, because many of us who even have had kids commission this yr., still  and are trying to figure out the process.

:shake:

Once you think you understand everything they throw in a new twist and the process is totally unclear again!
