Folks,

Please consider making this post relevant to the forum topic, which is USNA.

Many thanks.

Daddy_12,

Receive word from Portman or Brown for interviews yet?

District 1 - Brown interview. DS was notified via text message last week to call and schedule a phone interview. My son is a USNA Foundation Prep student at NMMI.

I have received the email from Brown regarding the interview but yet to receive the letter. If it doesn't come in the mail today I will have to call the office. Nothing from Portman or my MOC yet, but my MOC application wasn't due until November.

I received my letter last Thursday. Same deal here, nothing from MOC either as the deadline isn't until Nov.

Yeah, all the waiting around is the tough part. But, I am a reapplicant so this is nothing new to me.

My son was interviewed by Portman and Tiberi's office last year. They make their decisions the week after Christmas. I would expect early January is the earliest anyone will hear from them

Son received Nom from Tiberi 12/23/24. Received letter from Portman 12/24/14 staing not receiving Nom because they confirmed receiving from other source. Interviewed with Sen Brown but no further communication yet.

If Brown follows what they did last year, you have nom from another source, you'll get the same letter.

So if that is the case, Brown will only give a nomination to someone who does not get nominated by their Congressman or Portman? That doesn't seem to make sense. I would think that he would want to nominate the most deserving candidates, not just those who cannot get a nom from any other source...

My son has a nom from both Senator Brown and his district MOC. He received a letter from Senator Portman today stating he wouldn't receive one from him since he already had a nom from Brown. I think its only Brown and Portman that will not nominate the same candidate.

Agree. The exception is a candidate with an LOA. I can tell you from experience that if he/she gets a nom from a MOC and has an LOA they won't get one from either Senator which is what the letters to my DS clearly stated from both Brown and Portman.
