I've received a green letter in the mail a few days ago stating that when I send my Birth Certificate, it cannot be a copy. Reason it further it only says a photocopy is not acceptable.

Do I have to send in my official Birth Certificate? Or can I print them a copy?

Also a side question - Can I fax this and my immunization records to them?

Thank you!

When my DS applied last year, I believe I remember the letter said they had to have an original, so we had to request a new one and pay the fee. I'm certain we sent everything by mail. It was no big deal, though. Usually you can go on the website and order your birth certificate. Good luck!

My DS is at North Georgia and I was told only a copy of his birth certificate was needed. That's what he brought and it was not an issue. As for immunization records he faxed them and they received them. Possibly they may have recently changed their policy.

I checked on the North Georgia website...

I checked on the North Georgia website and downloaded the CAM and while reading through it, it says only a copy of a birth certificate is needed.

So I can make a copy from a copy machine and mail it?

Just double checking.

Thank you!

DS is a freshman at North Georgia. He was told to bring a copy of his birth certificate. I made the copy from an official document. The copy had watermarks stating "void" to keep from forging it I suppose, but DS submitted it and they said, "thank you" and it was not a problem. They told him he had met all his obligations regarding paperwork.

We are from out of state. I sent in a copy of my son's Birth Cerificate and they sent me the same letter you are talking about. They said I had to order it from a company they listed and it cost me almost $50.00 to send it! I didn't care at the time, but since he was waitlisted I think it is nuts to have to spent the money. I can see asking for an original once you are accepted, but not just to apply. The Citadel accepted my son and we never sent them any kind of ID.

A copy was sufficient for my kid and he has been a full time cadet since August. The CAM states it can be a copy. You can download it from the UNG website. Someone is not on the same page or the school needs to update the info on the website..
