I'm a junior in high school and I really want to get into West Point, but based on my grades and overall gpa my chances don't look very good. I'm just wondering if I would have any chance at the prep school at West Point and who they are giving offers to. I have ran cross country and track since my freshman year and have an overall gpa of 3.2. I am decent at running, and I'm not sure if West Point has a cross country team and if there is any way I could have a better chance of getting in if I ran cross country there, if I am good enough.

USMA Prep school is reserved for those who need extra attention on their academics to keep pace. You can not apply to the USMAPS, and is typically used to help recruited athletes and individuals WP feels they need. I would suggest applying to SLS and the proccess should start soon. If you are not selected, continue to prepare yourself. After your senior year, look into a private or public prep school that are listed on SAF.

Good Luck!

Hey! I graduated from USMAPS Class of 2012. They do have Cross Country as well as track :). My class was well mixed. There were a good handful of recruits, a good handful of prior service, and the rest were others who were struggling academically or there because of an injury. Like the first post, you don't apply to USMAPS. Apply to USMA and if you feel like you want to take the Prep School route then let your admissions officer know so that just in case you don't get in direct s/he can advocate for you to be considered for prep school. If you have any questions about USMAPS let me know!!! :thumb:
