DODMERB Disqualified

Hello all! My name is David and I am currently an ROTC cadet. I am currently 19 years old.

I seem to be having some "issues" with my DODMERB. When I first put it in it got sent back asking for medical records of when I had broken my wrist and my history of heart murmurs which I had indicated. I got my wrist records (since it happened recently). I then went to see a cardiologist to get up to date on my heart. He did a full work up and returned saying that my echo-cardiogram shows no evidence of congenital of acquired heart disease. And his official diagnosis was "History of minimal aortic valve stenosis, spontaneously resolved. No evidence of heart disease." and "David has no heart disease. He should be allowed to participate in all physical activities including competitive contact sports. Permissible activities would include :football, wrestling, basketball, boxing and baseball."

Sent all this good stuff up and it came back denied because of history of valvular heart disease. I imagine it was denied because even though I'm cleared, my history is literally against there rules. However, it says I can apply for a wavier. Our HR rep is currently putting one together for me. I believe he said it will go to the CSM of Cadet Command for approval. Long story short, what do you think are the chances that it will get approved. And does it really go to a CSM? I figured it would go to a officer/doctor, wouldn't be surprised if he/she had birds on their shoulders either.

Waivers are done through ROTC. DoDMERB only cites what the regs say "Qualified" is. Approval of waivers is decided on a case by case basis. They consider 1) the severity of the condition (A broken bone with screws in it is more likely to be waived than an amputee) and 2) the quality of the candidate (Straight "A"'s, excellent fitness scores, and detachment commander will be more likely to get a waiver than a "C" student who barely qualified for Field Training).

Free advice: Keep your focus on what you can do (grades, PT, volunteering for everything you can, and work with your det throughout the process) instead of what you can't affect (the waiver).

So, I didn't do anything. I just checked my account on dodmerb.tricare(whatever the website it). It now says "Waiver Approved - AROTC - CSP". Does this mean I have been given a waiver. Or my waiver has been approved and I'm good to go?
