I have completed my candidate portal and I am triple qualified with a nomination. My high school is a little different than others. It is a public magnet career academy that specializes in marine sciences, engineering, and technology. There aren't different levels of classes; all classes are considered honors. We are a NJROTC distinguished unit with honors. I have received a ROTCH nomination from my school, and I am pursuing nominations from my congressmen.

Stats
  • GPA: 93.9...will increase with much higher grades this marking period
  • AP: Calc BC, Physics

Hi, just curious to see if you got a letter saying you are 3 Qd? Friend's DS received one last year, no LOA but after he obtained a nomination he received his appointment shortly after. I know things are different this year but curious to see if they are sending out 3 Q letters.

No...On my portal it says that I am qualified medically and physically. I have been told by many people that if they schedule you for a DODMERB exam, than you are academically qualified...hopes this helps

Actually, they are still sending out the 3qd letter, I just got my letter 2 days ago and it says that the admission board reviewed my application and found that I am 3Qd

Although you look like a very strong candidate no one here can really tell you. As I recall from threads last year (you might search for them) only 20 appointees come via ROTC. Not sure if that was JROTC or all ROTC. In any case, whatever the number is it depends how you rank against the other fine candidates on that slate.

You can increase your chances by securing the MOC nomination(s). Even then it depends on how the MOC handles their slate. If they rank it and you're at the top and 3Q'ed its a sure thing. If they rank it and you're not at the top then you go on the waiting list (although you can rise to the top if the folks ahead of you aren't fully qualified). If they don't rank it and let USMA decide, it depends on the competition you're up against on that slate of candidates.

In any case more NOMs increase the chances you have to grab the brass ring.

Good luck! :thumb:

Ds got an LOE.Qualified by Dodmerb, maxed most events on CFA rest way above average. Act scores range from lowest 33 to highest 36. No 3Q letter. I'm just not sure everyone who is 3Q gets a letter. So I wouldn't fret if you don't get one.

Your doing well...

I agree and would not fret over receiving a 3Q'd letter. What is more important is on your portal it shows all green. You must understand at this time in admissions they are swamp with applications and now starting to recieve nomination information. The best way to monitor your status is to watch your portal and that is slow too.
