There is already a thread for people to cheer and otherwise comment on the AROTC October Board. I thought it might be helpful and avoid some confusion (which I often help to create ) by setting up a separate thread for NROTC. Have at it as results come in or questions arise regarding the NROTC board.

Good idea! The online status was updated for my DS this afternoon stating he received the NROTC scholarship. :thumb:

Good luck to all!

NROTC staus page change

Congratulations!- did everyone who has completed applications submitted have their staus page change and looks differen? My son told me it had changed and includes your list of colleges.

Thanks Roxymom. For my DS the colleges were added to his status page a few weeks ago. I think it may have been in September, but I don't recall exactly.

My son had an officer interview on October 15th/2012 .....no news...He may have been to late for the October board and moved to the November meeting...

My info is dated but I doubt its changed much.
The Navy holds 10-15 boards a year starting in August and ending April.
If you are not selected at your first board you will be rolled over to the next one. I understand it can be painful to have it wait, but I think most would rather have a chance of getting selected late. If you are selected it takes a few weeks to get your notification. It depends on volume. Typically early board recipients hear quicker. You will find out earliest via the website.
You can help yourself by getting a complete, error free application in early.
The people handling applications are usually short staffed. Be patient.
If you end up in P-cola after commissioning, don't forget to swing by and give them a Bravo Zulu (job well done.) They really deserve it. It will also give you a greater appreciation for what they have to go through to make all this happen.

My DD received a call last week from the Chief Petty Officer who is in charge of her NROTC scholarship region congratulating her on her 4 year scholarship. She then checked her portal and it showed her change in status.

Anybody else unable to login to the status page? It hasn't worked for me today.

Navy 4 Year Scholarship Awarded

Our DS just got his 4-year Navy Option scholarship assigned to VMI. He submitted his application August 19th and we took a missing document to the recruiter October 12th if this is any gauge.

This has been said in the past, but I will say it again...... Be prepared to wait for results.

My DD's application was submitted and she received interview in December (which we thought was early - had not yet discovered this forum). You know how all college deadlines are May 1st, as in send a deposit or forfeit your acceptance? We had deposits submitted to three different universities so that we would be prepared for any NROTC scholarship offer.

Well her online status changed on April 29th and a half! It was about 9:00 PM on a Friday evening when she checked online. I had already checked about three times that day, and assumed after normal business hours on a Friday that no other updates would be made.

She did receive a scholarship, LREC, which is only a portion of the 15% allotted to Tier 3 applicants. We then rushed to request deposit refunds from the schools that were not her host school by their May 1 deadlines.

( She is in her first semester and enjoying everything!) But you can see that the wait can be quite a while - hence my screen name!

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Did the missing document show up on the page? Which document?

Congrats! Was VMI his first choice school? If not, what was his first choice? Has he done the "spend the night with the rats" thing at VMI? If so, how did he like it? If not, does he plan to do so? Any other options still in the mix (USNA, etc.) or did he decide to go with the NROTC scholarship only?

Saw my online status change to top choice, "4-YR NROTC Scholarship to Drexel University!!! (host unit UPenn) For those wondering, it looks like most schools cover room & board for their ROTC scholarship students. Drexel pays for 100% room ($9,000) & 25% board. Congrats to all other scholarship recipients and good luck to those patiently waiting!

Keep in mind, and tell Mom and Dad, that the room and board aid you receive from Drexel will be taxable. The tuition, book and fee money received from NROTC will not be taxable.

Congratulations! I thought most schools did not pay for room and board...if they do, it would be a very pleasant surprise! :shake:
