If we received an LOA and submitted our applications, when will we find out if we received an official appointment? The LOA just said we needed to finish the application by November 1st and be cleared by DoDMERB (which I have done/been deemed qualified)... Do I need to do anything else or should I just relax and wait?

Can you only receive an LOA if you attended AIM? How does the Academy receive your name for LOA consideration?

The LOA actually says "pending a final review of your complete record" plus some other requirements (in addition to the ones you listed) you will receive a full appointment. It's very rare that someone given an LOA would not receive at least a conditional appointment, but the LOA records are still reviewed by the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board and Admissions Committee, so the outcome is far from predetermined. I would agree with Luigi that you most likely just need to relax and wait, but how relaxed you are really depends on how your junior year ended (academically), what courses you're taking senior year, and how much effort you put into your personal statements.

Yes...the first requirement, among many, for receiving an LOA is being rated in the top 20% of your AIM company by the cadet cadre.

Thank you for your respons Objee! I ended my junior year with really good grades, I'm taking all college/AP courses again, every period throughout my school day is filled, and I think my personal statements were very good. I was just wondering how "influential" the LOA's are in the admissions process.

I talked to my admissions officer regarding this and he gave me some useful information that might help others - so I'll include it. He said many people consider LOAs "golden tickets" - while that's not the case at all. You still have to work hard and maintain your high standards throughout all aspects of your application and throughout the school year or it can be taken away.

When is it likely that those candidates who received LOA's will hear from the Academy?

I received a phone call on Tuesday from my admissions officer and he said that my LOA has translated to an official appointment! You'll probably hear soon! :)

It all depends which EA1 round your record is reviewed in, which is determined by how early you completed your application.

I submitted on September 26.

When you submit your application and when your record is complete (and ready to be reviewed by the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board) are different, but as long as you're in EA1 you should be hearing in the next few weeks. You could always check with your Admissions Officer...
