LOA and Nomination in place, 2 DQs Now What?

Son received an LOA from USNA in Oct. and just received his nomination. DodMerb has informed he will have 2 DQs.

1. Back injury in football 9th grade. No surgery has since played 3 years football and wrestling. Zero problems!

2. Vocal Cord dysfunction??? Was written on his medical a year ago to explain cough. No medication. Never had an incident or has it ever been brought up until now.

Will USNA tell us what to do???? Is he out??
 
USNA should be in contact with you. Until your nomination is recorded on the Candidate Information System, it isn't considered "received" by USNA. So if you received your nomination from a MOC and it isn't in CIS yet, your MOC has until 31JAN to officially report your nomination.

Once your nomination is reported in CIS, I would give USNA 1-2 weeks to contact you. If you have not been contacted at that point, I would then call Admissions for further guidance.
 
Have not officially been notified of DQ. Lady on the phone told me it looks as though he will have a couple of DQ and told me the reasons. Will USNA give us an opportunity to explain these?? I am new to the military way of doing things. Thanks for the help.
 
My son (class of 2016) also had an LOA and was DQ'd for a football injury. After the official DODMERB results arrived in the mail, we then received a letter from USNA granting a medical waiver. USNA medical will initiate the waiver process, you do not need to request it.

My 2 cents

Based on what you have posted, I belive you should take a pro-active approach and not wait for some waver to drop from the sky. Wavers are for things that can't be medically resolved. This you can resolve. You state that there is nothing wrong with your son, then prove it to DODMERB. If your son is DQ'ed for a back injury, take him to a back specilaist and have him examined. Have the presideing doctor write up a detailed description of his condition with x-rays or whatever is necessary. Do the same thing for for the throat issue. Send the documention to DODMERB. They do expect this and they do listen to other doctors findings , with backup documentation.

Ran into something similar several years ago with my former Mid. Took us 2 months fighting DODMERB over a silly issue that caused a DQ. Once we proved our case the DQ was recinded and LOA arrived.
