Wasnt quite sure where to put this but...
Is there a set deadline to take the Candidate Fitness Test(CFA)?

Not really. The due date for the CFA should be the same as the due date for everything else, which is January 31. However, finishing very late isn't very good, as problems with processing and updates (including weather for the CFA) may prevent you from finishing the application on time.

I would say to get it done before the year ends. Gives a good cushion of a month.

Usafa2017,

I think you are wrong regarding CFA.

MOC deadline is Jan. 31st, but the last I knew candidate requirements is Feb 28th. Hence, why they call it March Mass Mailing. If it was 1/31 it would be called Finding out February. It usually takes about 1-2 weeks after they close to start major notifications. It is not 5 weeks.

I am ready for 1000 lashes from a wet Lomein noodle if I am wrong.

I would disagree with getting it done before yrs end. My perspective is don't wait past 14 days prior to the closing. Remember Usafa2017 is saying it closes 1/31, and I am saying 2/28.

Nobody on your MOC slate can be charged until every candidate has a WCS. They can be appointed and that is different. I.E. why people say you only need 1 nom. Yet, at the same time those appointed, unless principal can't be charged, which goes back to why it can be better to wait.

If you are a guy can only do 6 pull-ups and shoot 70 for BBall throw, you are hurting yourself from an apptmt perspective. I have never heard of a Falcon going this path because of their CFA. CGPA or SAT, yes regarding Falcon. CFA, no.

CFA is a small %, but still it is a factor, and something that you should not lose sight of regarding the WCS.

I wouldn't worry about CFA paperwork getting lost and needing a month to track it down. Do the CFA even 2 days prior, have the tester submit, call your regional the next day for verification of receipt. If they don't have it, contact the coach, and re-submit...wait for the fax verification. The RD's will work with you.

If you are really afraid of lost paperwork, get a copy of your results, send it to your ALO.

The L in ALO = Liaison. That is one part of their job. They can talk to the RD and work with you and the AFA to get it in.

CFA

Hi
For my two cents I will say that regardless of when you take it, be sure you are ready to do your best. Do one or two practice timed test as you get ready. My DS thought no big deal as he was an 6ft 175 athlete and the test would be easy. (Refused to listen to the old man) Needless to say he was surprised when it was done and he did better than average on three and lower than average on other three. He has an LOA and MOC recommendation and just signed his non-binding commitment to play baseball at the academy. But he also got a pop-up on his admissions page saying.....take the CFA again. Yes it appears to be important especially if you are an incoming athlete. As coach said, how do you ask for a CFA waiver for a recruited athlete?
Regards
John

Understand the CFA system.

You max BBall, Pull ups, Push ups. run, and shuttle, bust sit ups. YOU BUST THE CFA. FAIL, FAIL, FAIL. Did I remember to say FAIL!

Only the AFA can reopen that portal.

Again why you don't rush it. If it means you take it in Jan. because right now you can only do 3 pull ups. than take it in Jan.

Nobody, absolutely nobody on your MOC slate will be charged. As I said before they can be apptd, but that doesn't mean they are charged.

Concur with PIMA. 2 years ago, the deadline for updating your files was February 15th. You should have this information in your application portal.

Okay. I was just pulling info from the candidate book that we recieved, which states at the bottom of page 2 to
"Complete your admissions file BEFORE January 31 including your medical, CFA, ALO interview, Writing Sample, and all forms listed in
this booklet."

Perhaps we are referring to two different things?

How about submitting an acceptable CFA early before deadline versus risking injury or waiting until the very last minute to try and better acceptable scores?

That I agree with. I didn't mean to say and submit mediocre scores; I mean to say to get it done before the end of the year if your scores satisfy you.

I have a quick question regarding this topic:
If your CFA is not finished by the time you interview for nominations, will this affect your likelihood of receiving a nomination?
From what I understand, your nomination depends on whether or not the selection board feels you will perform well at the academy. Isn't the CFA a vital piece of information that they would want to take into account?
Just wondering...as this is the case for me right now

I'm not really sure if most MOCs care about the CFA in the nomination process. My DS did not complete the CFA (due to a broken hand in football) until after the nomination apps had closed. Just follow the instructions on your congressman's and senators' applications. If they ask for CFA info, then include it. If they don't then you may want to include it if you crushed it. If you haven't completed it yet, it is a moot point. Best wishes. :thumb:

None of the MOCs for my DS asked about the CFA. Then again, they didn't interview either, all based on resume and essay.
