I Day

Optometry (if necessary), podiatry (if necessary), and blood samples are taken. Officer asks you a bunch of questions.

Dental and other stuff comes during Plebe Summer.

Thank You Nuensis!

There have been some older posts that describe horror stories involving wisdom teeth, high blood pressure (which I assume everyone will have on I Day) etc.

You make it sound pretty simple & straight forward.

Thanks Again!

There are a lot of things to accomplish before Swearing In on I day, so the medical exam for the vast majority of plebes will be pretty cursory. The exceptions will be those plebes who are arriving with medical problems that may interfere with their participating in the full schedule of activities planned for their " summer camp on the Severn".

That stuff is still done, just not on I-Day.

Nuensis,

I've read that they extract your wisdom teeth even if they're not problematic. Is there any truth to this?

When we had dental over Plebe Summer they told me that they weren't a problem now, but they would probably come out before commissioning, sooner if they became a problem. So most likely.

What else (medically) is done on I day?

From what I can remember, you talk to a doctor and discuss any changes in medical status since the DODMERB, they do vitals, color vision, breathalyzer, and take blood for all your blood work.

Immunizations

What medical examinations are conducted on I day?

There will be immunizations given also. Some are a series. USNA will have an immunizations questionnaire included in the packet of paperwork plebes to be will receive in the late April early May time frame. Our fam doc was able to certify my son's immunizations record.
Cheers

I'm concerned that my blood pressure might be high from the stress of I day. Could you get sent home for that? Do they check BP on I day?

Everyone's blood pressure is going to be high. It's I-Day. Don't worry about it.

No. Mine are a problem, so I'm in line to get them out, but some of my classmates are keeping theirs.
