Hello everyone.
A quick question regarding recommendation letters for the Coast Guard Academy application:
Since I am currently a second-year college student, and it asks for a recommendation from your current or previous year math/english teacher, am I limited to only have my college math/english professors write a recommendation for me?
This will not be a problem, however I am much closer with my teachers from high school and they know me a lot better than my professors do, and I would expect a more thoughtful recommendation from them. That was over a year ago though...
Also, does anyone know the format of the recommendation letters? i.e. are they actually letters, or are they more "evaluation forms"?

You put in their contact info in the recommendations part of your application page, then they get an email. Just out of curiosity what college are you attending?

Well I understand that much, I was wondering more along the lines of whether it is a question and answer evaluation, or an actual recommendation letter that they write.
I suppose this question is more directed toward counselors or liaison officers.

Willc1021, I'm currently going to a community college in California.

From what I have heard, I believe it is a written recommendation that is uploaded. Only the Guidance Counselor should have an evaluation part in addition to the written recommendation.

My teachers said they had to answer a few questions in addition to uploading their written recommendation.

Good luck, H20PoloDude....my son did the same. He did a year at a local CC, and was a polo player all thru high school. Switched to crew at CC. Will graduate in 2013.

Awesome! Congratulations to your son.
Crew is definitely something I am considering if I get in to the Coast Guard Academy. It sounds like a blast

He enjoyed "the cult". It was a HUGE time commitment though, and he dropped it last year. Kind of sad, but the friendships he made helped keep him sane during those first few years.

On the other hand, he went to a club polo practice just a few weeks ago, just for kicks. He realized he really missed polo as well..... But, ya can't do it all!

Good luck again, and I hope you get some great news very soon!
