So I just received a type 2 In-school scholarship. Out of all the 200's and 250's in my Det (45 cadets) only 4 of us got it. My PFA is 99.2 my GPA is 3.66 and I was told that I am ranked in the top of the middle third of the 45 FTP cadets... So my question is: Am I competitive for a field training slot? Does receiving this scholarship a semester before Field Training Selections give me a slight edge? BTW my major is Russian. Thanks.

Scholarships are masked for SFT selection. You have strong stats, that is why you will be competitive for selection. I would think a 3.66 cgpa and 99.2 PFT will be fine.

Thanks, Pima. I sure hope I get a slot! I hope the cuts and the fiscal cliff don't screw us over!

My stats are very close to yours (3.6 GPA, 98PFA) and I got one too, poli sci major. I think we're good for EAs now dude. This scholarship really quelled my fears.

SoleTrain, I completely agree. When we applied for the scholarship I read in the pamphlet that the Cadre stacks and racks all the 200's and 250's for the scholarship board, and that the rankings should be pretty much the same for FT rankings. I hope I see you in BAMA!

For sure dude. Look for me, I'll be the one in ABUs standing at attention

Congrats to both of you regarding the scholarships. Those are amazing stats.

Keep it up because remember as a 300 your cgpa will be used for AFSC.

One piece of advice, some of you will go to Max 4, 5 ot 6, which can be 8+ weeks after school ends. Don't rest on your laurels, continue to study for SFT and work out, preferably at the height of the heat of the day. Alabama in July is hot, humid and hot and humid even at 8 a.m., especially if you are living at home in Oregon or Maine. Two yrs ago, they had 10 straight days of 100 degree heat. Physically it can be an impact if you aren't ready for that type of climate.

Good luck
