I got a 8.5 x 11 white flat rate envelope in the mail today that sent from USAFA yesterday 12/13. It was completely empty and ripped open. My local post office posted red stamps all over it "Received Without Contents." So much for the $4.90 postage. I wonder what was in it!

My DD received large envelope today also with tears, side ripped open etc. Her contents are still inside not sure what it is hopefully good news it is not torn enough to see ! same postage price 4.90.

sorry :(

DS got the same-white envelope- it was partially opened but the contents were inside

...a very pretty airforce academy catalog-and university parent guide....

I wouldn't read anything too much into it though-sorry DS never even finished more than the first screen of his USAFA application.

who knows though...maybe your envelope will hold something better.:thumb:

If I were you, I would contact all three credit bureaus and place a "fraud victim statement" on my accounts. A potential motive could have been to obtain various pieces of information about your identity that could be used to open accounts and run up bills in your name. Only saying because it happened to me once, and I didn't know it until I started getting calls from creditors I had never heard of.

I also recommend calling USAFA and letting them know what happened, so they can tell you what the correspondence contained.

Didn't see this note until my last post. May well have been just a bulky mailing that got damaged. But if you were expecting something related to your application that may have included personal information, including your social security number, it may be worth an ounce of prevention.

I recieved the same type of envelope last year during my original application process. It was a course catalog for USAFA.

Wow they spend that much money to send catalogs out to all applicants

I got the same thing! Big white envelope from the AFA with their 2012-2013 catalog.. Almost gave me a heart attack!!

I remember getting that catalog last year. I too had a mini heart attack.

Opening the catalog was the most tense time I had. I was expecting the rejection letter by the time it came. By then wasn't really worried because of ROTC working out.

My daughter, who is a senior at a civilian college, got one too! Also torn and open. This is pretty strange.

I got one with a catalogue and a parent guide too. I thought it was an admissions decision... guess not. Did they send those to every candidate?

I can tell you from experience that when you receive "The BFE" it says right on the front "Offer of Appointment Enclosed" so there is NO way that you will not know what is included. Good Luck to all!!!

USAF Catalog

Hi
DS got the same 2012-2013 catalog today. Since so many of you got this before him, it was expected. I thank it will be very useful to decide what major and look at classes so he can prepare for June.
Regards

Got mine today too!

Hoping for the best in March! (Or earlier).

It is quite the pretty catalog, isn't it?
