Did anyone else receive a 2012-2013 USAFA Catalog and University Parent Guide booklet from USAFA admissions? It came in a large envelope (I was hoping it was an appointment  ). I completed my application and have a nomination. Any idea on what this might mean?

catalog

It seems you get one of these if yuor file is in order and you have a nomination. I have a C2C there now and his little brother is applying and he just recd the same thing about a week after his nomination was posted. good luck!

Interesting I got the catalogue today (had one from liaison already) but I barely interviewed Saturday for my nomination. My app is complete though

My son got one of these beautifier catalogs and parent handbooks last week. He finished perhaps 10% of his application and never asked for a nomination to USAFA. Sorry to burst any bubbles.

Bummer! My DD was really excited when that came and we all gathered around while she ripped it open, only to be a bit disappointed. Then we told ourselves it must be a good sign. It is so funny how we look to every little correspondence and read into it. Guess we keep waiting......

Off topic, but shame on the AF and the AFA. This to me is pure fraud, waste and abuse. The cost to produce and mail this to 12K candidates can't be cheap. Assume it is only $5 bucks per, that is still 60K, before manpower hrs are included. I am sure there are better ways to use that 60K, if nothing else the 1st Shirts in every squadron in the AF could have used it for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for AD members.

Pima, I agree. What a waste. But 60K is just the cost of postage. With printing and shipping from the printer, I bet the cost, not including any AFA labor, is more like 200K. Those are high quality publications.
