ROTC Start dates?

Hello all, I am currently a junior in HS and will be applying to the SAs and all ROTC of the Big Three.

I have already applied to USAFA SS and will be applying to USMA and USNA SS (essentially starting my application to the SAs)

My question is this. When are the dates for the start of the ROTC apps for Army, Navy, and Air Force? Thank you for your time

Can't answer for Navy.

Army .... I honestly don't remember seeing a specific date ... just took a look, didn't find a date, the only thing the Army mentions is the deadline date. I think you could start right now if you wanted ... One thing I will say, Army's application is confusing - once you do the AF application, you will hate the Army's. Can't speak of the Navy because I didn't apply. Just a heads up - communication in the Army, well I'll just say isn't the greatest out there ...

AF - May 1st, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend that you have all applications DONE by the beginning of senior year, or at least 75% of it done by then. I'm not sure how high-level courses you are taking, but if you are taking any sort of honors & AP classes, they will consume your time when you through in extracurricular (sports). Plus then you also have to worry about applying for colleges as well.

Navy generally opens up the online application on or shortly after April 1 of your junior year. Try to get as much done as possible before the end of the school year so you can at least get your teacher recommendations lined up and submitted before they disappear for the summer. Army and Air Force should open up sometime in the spring as well but I do not know when.

You should be visiting colleges with units this spring and try to visit the unit and make contact while you are there. This is true for all the ROTC organizations.

Army is usually Feb or Mar. One bit of advice...you are only a Junior. Don't start the process too soon. You don't get extra points for being the first to apply. You have until October to have your file ready for the first board. Definitely start over the Summer, and try to get your interview and PFT done early, but if you start now you will just have to be submitting a bunch of updates as you get your grades from this semester, or when you find out what extra curriculars you will participate in next fall. You should be visiting campuses over the summer, and as you add or drop schools from your list there are more changes to make on your applications.
